    VFD

As far as the VFD rated motor, just use a small external cooling fan blowing through the existing motor. Have it run whenever the motor runs. That will solve your problem. Running at a lower speed the motors own fan just doesn't move enough air to keep it cool. Cley

Blank canvas, steel sided 40x60 pole barn. Thoughts on insulating, electrical, heating???

If you look into it there are more efficient electric water heat sources than a water heater. I have not looked for a long time but the electric water heater we used at my father in laws 40x60 shop was a very expensive way of heating the building. It does work well though. Cley

Blank canvas, steel sided 40x60 pole barn. Thoughts on insulating, electrical, heating???

All I can input into this discussion is to definitely go with surface conduit. It is the best way and easiest for long term expandability and flexibility. Cley

    Harbor Freight Tire Changer

I just bought one of these and I have no place to permanently mount it. I think I'm going to build something to mount it to the receiver hitch in my truck. Cley

    Ceiling mount heater

I have a Big Max heater in my 24x16 garage. It's a good unit and moves alot of air. Definitely overkill for my small space but it seems to be a good unit. I need a heater for my 24x24 attached garage and I'll get another one of the same when I can find one on sale. Cley

Autobody hammers and dolleys I found

I did almost the same thing the other day but I did buy the second one. I needed a 1/4" torque wrench so I thought I'd go grab one. Once done the job i went to put it in the spot it should be stored and "Hey what's this?" Its the 1/4" torque wrench I bought a year ago! So now I have 2! Cley

    Compressed Air Piping

The newer areas of the machine shop I work at have all the lines run in PEX plumbing lines. It looks like **** in my opinion but it works perfectly and has been in service for over 10 years. If I can find a way to hide it, I'll likely do my shops this way. Cley

    3 phase washing machine motor?

You would either adapt the washer electronics to do what you wanted them to do or come up with another inverter drive. I doubt the electronics are adaptable. But maybe! Cley

    3 phase washing machine motor?

The photo of the motor shows 120v 3 phase which is not a common voltage out of a transformer but could be had from and inverter. That overseas electronic crap is so cheap now, it's amazing what is being done. Cley

    3 phase washing machine motor?

They must have a small inverter to convert from single phase to 3 phase. It would be good for speed control and soft starting then. Cley

    Running electric

I assume you bought the property for a better price due to the lack of utilities. Investment in running traditional power to the place is an investment in the property value as well. Don't get me wrong, I love to see solar/wind installs as I dream of living "Off the Grid" some day too. Let me...

    Running electric

Do your homework regarding wind and solar. It is great in theory, but anyone I know that has dabbled in this finds maintenance costs negate any gains from this type of energy production. It will be viable someday and I am going to jump on that band wagon eventually, but it's just net ready yet...

    Running electric

Talk to your engineers about upsizing the wire to reduce the voltage drop. It seems strange to add transformers to deal with voltage drop. It would work, but that is not the way we would do it here. I see the need for a transformer to reduce from transmission voltage to house voltage, but that...

    Shop/Garage Heater suggestions please

This is what I have in my attached garage that measures 24'x26' with 10' ceilings. It is insulated with 2x6 walls and a 10' ceiling. It is 20amp, 220 volt so it is easy to wire in and cheap to buy. It will easily heat me right out of that garage, and If I had a ceiling fan, it would barely run...

Need some help with wiring (House)

I want to start by recommending you get a proper permit for this work dependent on where you are located. I hope my sketch attaches to this post as this won't make much sense without it. I have never tried to attach a PDF to a post before. If it doesn't feel free to PM me your email address and...
