    Standard Radiator vs Heavy Duty

I don't know the answer to your questions, but I was told on another board to just enlarge the cutout in the core support to fit a wider radiator. I guess that's fine if you don't mind hacking up the car, but for a stock resto it would not be appropriate. FWIW, the radiator on my '71 Dart 318...

    Water pump to intake size

Rick Ehrenberg sells the correct nipples on eBay if you don't mind spending $24 for them. As you can see from this photo, there are two fittings on top of the waterpump. One is to supply water to the heater core, and the other is the bypass hose which goes up to the manifold. The pic...

    Water pump to intake size

It's 3/4" NPT. If you find a source for that nipple, let us know where. :) My parts store doesn't carry one that size.

    using a newer compresser

It doesn't use the stock lines, but bouchillon performance has a bracket to adapt the Sanden shorty style compressor to a Mopar SB. The new hoses can be made by an a/c shop, or you can get Aeroquip hose/fittings and make your own. And I love their animated gif here....

Coolant in the oil - AGAIN!

Bummer. Thought you had that problem licked last year. So are you just going to pull the heads off again, or pull the whole motor and go through everything?

    318 a/c delete

My '71 has a/c with that big V2 compressor too. Not sure how much that thing weighs, but I am sure it's a bunch. Mine is going to get 'replaced' someday with a polished Sanden compressor and the condenser will be changed out to a parallel flow for better efficiency with r134a. Down here in SE...

    are my fans too restrictive?

Hmmm, just a thought... but it looks like the temp sendor in the intake manifold is directly behind that upper fan. You don't suppose it could be showing a false reading because of that do you? Maybe try blocking the airflow from hitting the front of the intake and see if it reads differently??

    Moroso Elec H2O pump

Ditto that. I know lots of guys that run electric water pumps, and most of them carry a spare in the trunk. It is not a question of whether or not it will fail... the question is when will it fail. And when it does fail, it is a sudden and complete loss of cooling.

    blocking air flow too much?

Put the flex fan back on the engine. Mount one or both electric fans in front of the radiator as a pusher. If/when the temp starts to rise, flip the switch to turn on the electric fans.

    water pumps

I'm thinking about switching to the serpentine style ribbed belts too. Maybe the March kit. Not sure about the fan yet. Might go with flex fan on a spacer and fab up a new shroud. For the radiator, I'm looking at either a Griffin or Howe universal fit aluminum. I'm also going to replace the...

    water pumps

Do you have a high flow stat? If not, maybe it's creating too muck back pressure.

    water pumps

Looking at water pumps at Summit, there are too many to choose from. Which one would you guys recommend? I'm leaning toward the Milodon high volume aluminum, MIL-16250. Is there an obvious better choice? This is for an aluminum head small block 416 stroker motor in a street car.

    cooling system

ProStreetDuster asked I haven't, but I've heard second hand stories that it will corrode aluminum over time. I have had good luck using RMI-25 and distilled water. This has cleaner, conditioner and surfactant. And water is more efficient transfering heat than ethylene glycol, so no...

    A/C help

I had already thought of that Cuda. I checked 3 nearby salvage yards today, but no luck. Most of the bigger yards here in Houston only deal with cars less than 15 years old, which means it's tough to find anything from the 80's much less the 70's. But I'm sure there's one somewhere, I just have...

    A/C help

I looked at the clutch a little closer last night, there are metal shavings in there. I think the rear plate is supposed to be flat, but mine has a ridge aroung the outside edge and the inside looks to be ground down at least 50-60 thousanths. So I'm going to replace it and see where that...

    A/C help

Hope it's okay I crossposted from Scotty's board. Ahem, I know this isn't performance related, but it is technical. And call me a pansy if you want, but before you do let me see you come down to Houston and drive around in stop and go traffic for a few days in the middle of summer when it's...
