    Doctor Diff's 8 3/4" Helical Gear Sure-Grip ("Sure-Trac") LSD

I'm just wondering if you guys are confusing it with a Sure-Grip which is a different animal. Sure-Grip uses clutches and Sure-Trac uses helical gears.

    Doctor Diff's 8 3/4" Helical Gear Sure-Grip ("Sure-Trac") LSD

Are you sure? The item description states that it is not required. Has there been a change?

    Doctor Diff's 8 3/4" Helical Gear Sure-Grip ("Sure-Trac") LSD

I've actually talked to Cass about this differential, but that was way back before it even came out. Maybe a year or two ago. It was still in the development phase. I originally was inquiring about the Sure-Grip and the Tru-Trac. He had mentioned something regarding some issues with the...

    Doctor Diff's 8 3/4" Helical Gear Sure-Grip ("Sure-Trac") LSD

I have a spare 489 case with 2.76 gears and an open diff that I'm planning on rebuilding but with some sort of "positive" traction device (I put that in quotes because I'm using the term loosely) such as a Sure-Grip LSD or maybe a Tru-Trac LSD. But, now I see that there is a...

    7 1/4 to 8 3/4 info needed

I'm running the snapring Green Bearings on a daily driver. No issues as of yet. Go for the 8 3/4 all the way. But is the 8 3/4 that they are rebuilding from an A-Body or B-Body?

8 3/4 Sure Grip ratio change

I have 4.10's right now and I have to spin it up to 3,500 RPM just to keep up with traffic. I have about a 28" tire in the rear.

    a230 id

I can't help much with the identification, but I have seen them go locally for around 200 bucks (give or take). I think it all depends on the condition and where you're at geographically.

    Automatic or manual?

Danger Ranger? You mean Ford Ranger? I had a 2003 Ranger with a 3.0L that I put over 200,000 miles on (never rebuilt). Many of those miles was in Los Angeles traffic. It was 5 speed with 4.56 gears and a Detroit Locker. It was mildly built for the desert off-road. I sold it like a month ago...

How often to change rear end oil.

This thread was of interest to me, because I wanted to know the same thing. Yikes. I have almost 150,000 miles in my Ford Ranger's 8.8 since I put the 4.56 gears and Detroit Locker in. Maybe I should change it? LOL In my Duster, I have the rear end (8 1/4) sitting on jack stands and I was...

    Giving my Z-bar some love...

Hah! Yeah, I need to jump back on that. This car is like never ending! There's always something to fix or improve. I'm going to try to work on the brakes Sunday since I'm going to the Edelbrock Car Show on Saturday.

    Giving my Z-bar some love...

I finished reinstalling my z-bar. It was bitter/sweet. It sweet because it went back in really easy, but it was bitter because I think I stripped one of the bolt holes in the bell housing. I barely put any torque on it too. I put a little bit of white multi-purpose grease on the plastic...

    Giving my Z-bar some love...

It's a '74 Duster. When I looked it up on Brewers and Passon's I didn't see that bushing on any of the parts they had listed. That part to of the ball stud bracket made things harder to get it out from behind the headers. I'm wondering if dropping the z-bar from the top would be easier. I...

Okay, so can someone tell me what the plastic bushing is for in the following pic?

What year vehicles? I heard 90's Dakota's. What about RAM trucks or vans with the Magnum V8's? Will those work too?

    Giving my Z-bar some love...

Yeah, but how am I going to get the old one out? For now the starter works, but I will be hating those headers when it does go out.

    Giving my Z-bar some love...

Not sure if this belongs in this section, but since it's transmission related and my car is a 3 speed (A230 - not much info on these) and not a 4 speed I figured this would be it. So, I have this problem...it's called A.D.D. (Attention Devficit Disorder). I first started working on my brake...

Prepping an 8 3/4 Rear End...

MuuMuu101, I picked up an axle as well. I put a while wheel on a HF "black" grinder and wire wheeled the crap out of it. It was so greasy and dirty that I got that gunk on the garage floor. Woops! Anyway, I found a place in Lynwood that does powder coating and sandblasting. I'm thinking of...
