Heads up to those that install a 2 bolt aluminum master cylinder.

I'm running a wilwood MC with the adjustable prop valve. It defiantly has the front port of the MC tied to the front brakes and the rear port tied to the adjustable prop valve going to the rear brakes. After checking the instruction sheet this is how it shows it should be. But my brakes have...

Heads up to those that install a 2 bolt aluminum master cylinder.

Super thanks for this. My brakes are just not that great and I have been through 2 master cylinders and have bleed enough fluid through to make me cry, but the brakes just arnt great. Even the pedal doesn't feel that good. I'm running Wilwood disc's all round and figured the car should stop on a...

    Master Cylinder Size

Yea, I meant I went to a smaller MC. The Master I had was 1 1/16 from a fwd Chrysler. The 15/16's Master made a decent difference.

    Master Cylinder Size

I went with 15/16's. I had a MC that was a bit smaller and it took a massive amount of pedal pressure to stop the car. This MC I have know doesn't have too much travel but I found it's a bit of a trade off with pedal travel and stopping without using both feet! I'm running SSBC disc up front...

64 (Canadian) Valiant Signet (aka Dart GT) front disc brake conversion

Dam it must be over 3 months since you ordered your Disc's. Yea I'd be a bit pissed especially when you know they didn't ship when promised.

    E brake cable source Early

Yes you'll have to cut a notch in the sub frame connectors to get the stock cables to work. It's a bit of a trial and error thing but if you have to pass a safety you'll need an E brake.

    E brake cable source Early

I got a complete set from Classic industries. Was good quality and they fit perfect for stock. I had to modify mine as I'm running rear Discs. This was for a 65 Barracuda.

64 (Canadian) Valiant Signet (aka Dart GT) front disc brake conversion

This what I bought for a 71 Demon. small bolt pattern and lets you keep 14" rims. You can buy the kit with power booster or manual. This kit is very complete and comes with a new master which is what you need, expensive but I found it to be a great upgrade. A153 Front Disc Brake Conversion Kit...

    1970 Valiant Disc Brake Conversion

The nice thing about the SSBC kits is they are very complete with Master, bearings, prop valve, new brake lines and all hardware and best part is they have both bolt patters drilled in rotors and work with 10" drum spindles. Although not cheap.

    e brake for 64 barracuda with u s c frame connectors

No wouldn't fit for me. I used original e brake cables and cut a slot in the frame connectors where the cable can route through.

1965 dodge dart gt disc brake kit

I like the SSBC kit as it is very complete (master cyl, rotors, pads, front brake lines new bearings, adj prop valve) and you have the option to go 4" or at a later date you can switch to the 4.5 pattern and it comes with 2 sets of studs. Yes it has multi piston but does clear 14" wheels. This...

'65 Formula S always have 10" inch drums on front or some had 9"?

I have had 2 273 V8 65 Barracudas (both 2 barrel), an earlier build car that had 9" front drums and a later build (Feb65 ) car that also had a 273 but with a 4 sp and it had 10" drums on the front.. go figure.

    wilwood front disc brake conversion

SSBC kit a153 (manual disc kit) does work with 14 rims and is a very complete kit. I have this on my 71 Demon. I have ralley wheels on it but I tried the factory spare tire and it worked as well. I did learn one thing, an early A 14" rim from a 65 Cuda will not clear the disc brakes for some...

    Which conversion kit to buy?

That Classic kit is quit complete for that kind of money, the only real advantage I can see is the SSBC kit can come with the 4 and the 4.5 pattern and has 4 piston calipers. What bolt pattern are you going with?

    need brake suggestion

I'm running a 15/16 mc from a dodge Dakota (in a Demon front ssbc disc kit) and it works well. As 72bluNblu says the pedal effort is good and line pressure in a panic stop seems real good. I had a 1 1/16 mc but that small difference made a large difference in pedal effort. You do get a bit more...

Nice clean install, those wheels look a lot better than the 13's in my opinion! Sounds like you found a great mechanic.

Disc brake conversion kit for an A body Barracuda

Welcome to FABO LouieD. I think the first thing you have to do is determin weather you the original 4" bolt pattern or upgrade to the 4.5 BP. All great choices above. I went with the SS brakes (A153) option as I kept the 4" BP but has the option to upgrade to the 4.5 later.

    Disc Brake Conversion Kit

7/16 studs, it also changes to the 4.5 pattern with the 1/2 studs. It's hard to see in the picture that the studs are 7/16's The kit is very complete and easy to assemble. I used the manual brake kit on the Demon. I used the original 14" ralley wheels on the car.

    Master cylinder

Is that with power brakes or manual brakes or did it make a difference to them? Let us now how the pedal pressure is when you have it installed.
  24. Keith Mopar

    Master cylinder

I'm running a 15/16 bore master with manual brakes, this is with wilwoods all round. the larger the bore with manual brakes you are going to have legs of iron man to push the pedal down. The smaller bore you will have more pedal movement but less pedal pressure.

disc brake/ 14 inch wheel combo possible ???

Some 14 inch rims fit and some don't. I used the original spare wheel that came on the car (71 Demon) and it cleared. I found a 14 wheel from a 65 barracuda and it rubbed and both wheels had the pentastar logo on them If you have 14inch ralley wheels they will fit no problem. I used SSBC kit...

SSBC Discs to keep your 14" Rallye Wheels

Stock steel wheels fit over these disc's. Some earlier 14" drum only rims don't fit. I think they made two different types of steel wheels. The 14" steel wheels that were on my Barracuda would not fit over the SSBC disc brakes. The stock 14" spare rim from the 71 Demon fit over the brakes. I...

SSBC Discs to keep your 14" Rallye Wheels

This is what i used, the kit is very complete, and I'm happy with the way the car breaks. The stock 14" steel spare rim fit over the disc's with no problem. I'm running 14" X 5.5 ralley rims onthe front.

    SSBC Disc Brake Conversion Kit

Some early stock rims in the small pattern will not fit over discs (even stock disc's) All ralleys rims will work. So you may have to find some different rims. These old style rims were made to fit over the old drums only. here is a pic of the 14 X 6 ralley over the SSBC kit. I have the cast...

JTG, I'm running that kit on the Demon. I have 14 X6 front ralleys and they clear no problems. I am also running the small bolt pattern on mine.
