    How to reopen a dragstrip?

I know that this thread is two years old but this might make you all feel better. A good friend of mine has a property a little ways out of town where his house is at one end and 600 feet away on the other end is his sanitary new Morton building. We had been doing a few car repair and hot rod...

Horrific crash at Little River Dragway

Here is how the front of the car ended up. **** guard rail was a major contributing factor.

    8 3/4 goes boom

I was told that the failure of the ring and pinion gears is the result; not the cause. Reportedly the bolts holding the carrier together are about a third the size of the ones in a Dana 60. They stretch and then the spider gears start to climb over each other....then BANG! This from a...

    Milan dragway

You won't see anything now but in 70-71 we used to cruise the heck out of Napoleon in our RR's (Me and member Hooshpuppy). Had an "acceleration contest" or two LOL. There is a huge Corvette sales there. Ask anybody. It's worth seeing. Owner Terry Michaelis. Watch Barrett-Jackson and you will...

Your going west about 10 miles from where I went to high school. If you were going south you could have stopped at HDK and checked out some cars.

I spent many early times at Milan. Are you going east or south in Ohio and if south, what mile marker?

IHRA expermenting with a 11.50 index class. No (box/elec). Very cool, imo!

Still sounds like bracket racing to me.

Anyone ever run a mechanical tachometer?

This car had a Moroso (Jones/Motorola) cable drive tachometer, Ok on a race car with loud exhaust but jerky and noisy on the street. This was in the 70's just before the new crop of giant Autometer electronic Monster tachs became prevalent.

I will be watching for updates with great interest. This is what I was looking at but was concerned about several sites I saw commenting on fuel mileage. http://www.ramtrucks.org/forum/26-ram-2500-3500-6-4l-forum/40-2014-ram-2500-6-4-hemi-mpg.html

    48 degree r3 block

I don't know what the sprint car blocks are called (R3, R5, R8 etc) but my friend Greg Charney told me he just found a couple more including a tall deck version that he is going to build up over the winter that will be able to achieve 440 cu in.

Any 12 second combos with 3.23s?

You don't have to school me on nitrous. We installed many systems and used to keep a 54 lb. bottle in our motorcycle dealership at all times. I'm not a rookie and I know what it can do. I used to keep a "Sneaky Pete" in my toolbox but I never used the stuff.

Any 12 second combos with 3.23s?

Nitro and blowers are great for the T/F & F/C classes but all of those cars run it. A car built for E85/ethanol/methonol with accompanying high compression is a very mechanically efficient machine and that is a good thing. As far as turbos and superchargers go....fine, but let them race each...

Any 12 second combos with 3.23s?

I'll concede that a well engineered turbo set-up shows ingenuity but that stuff in a bottle has no place in my garage. I feel dirty just talking about it!

Any 12 second combos with 3.23s?

JMHO but I could never feel right turning better times if I were relying on that crutch. Any P.O.S. can make a lot more power with N2O if it gets enough fuel and holds together. Power adders of any sort just make me feel like a cheating/slut/horsepower *****. Actually, if you like power...

    Test and Tune Nite help

A BFG engineer told me to drive around the water, do one dry hop and go straight to the line. It works. Of course everybody wants to play big time drag racer and roast the hides. They can probably tell you the difference between different types of burnouts but can they tell you how it worked...

    front end woes

2 things: 1. You didn't swap your spindles side-to-side to make it a front steer did you? 2. The lower control arms and the tie rods MUST be the same length and be at exactly the same angle (reside in the same plane).
