    Why the /6

That was it, Bill. Amazing work. I've seen your car before and loved it, just never realized it had the headers put on that way. An amazing idea.

    Why the /6

Bill, do you ahve the link to the thread with the front-facing headers on that turbo slant? Looks amazing, but it leaves me wondering if they'll have room for the fan and radiator.

    Slant Six Dual Exhaust

Going to count that as an autocorrect fail, lmao! Been busy with school/work/family so haven't had much time for the car until recently. Just got back into things a little while ago. Check my thread in the restorations forum.

    Slant Six Dual Exhaust

Rebuilt slant six 2bbl HEI Flowmaster 40: http://youtu.be/jZwD1o8BCvQ Some of this sound is likely due to cam, but it's a single 2 1/4" to a Flowmaster 40, then a single 2“ out the back.

    Why the /6

I think the reason people like the slant, is why they like Mopar. There's a billion fords and chevys out there. Likewise, there's a million v8s. Dare to be different in a mopar? How about a mopar slant six? If I wanted just power, I'd go to a v8. If I wanted easily recognizable, I'd go...

Oil pan hitting the center linkage.

I believe the center links are the same size. Most likely it's your pan. I had this problem in my 69 valiant. Turns out the pan is from a truck or something. My temporary solution was to dent the pan so it would fit, but only barely. Now that my engine is out, I'm putting a different pan on.

Looking at a Trans for Victoria need input.

Good thing you didn't move forward with the later trans swap. The early crank will not fit a later transmission, because of the torque converter's nose being too large. I just went through this with my engine, since although it was a later engine, it had an early crank. I had to get a custom...

    Tranny match with newer \6

If for some reason, you have an early transmission (not likely) then you can get an adapter ring that will work. You'll also need a new flexplate. If it was the other way around, you'd have more problems.

Trying to get rid of some things

If you go really high compression, you won't be able to turbo it later. But from what I've read, turbo is a real pain and takes a long time to setup and tune. Doesn't seem worth the hassle when I've seen N/A slants in the 11s. If this is street/strip I would aim for mid to high 9s...

    Intake manifold plained too much!

A lot also depends on the gasket used. I used a remflex gasket and it worked great. Not a chance for vacuum leaks.

when i turn off my car it keeps sputtering

Not to hijack this thread, but would having timing set at 5BTDC or 10BTDC be more likely to cause this? I was running it at 10BTDC and had dieseling. It was also idling at around 850rpm. I changed timing to 5BTDC and also lowered idle to 750rpm. Not sure if what I did was correct, or if I...

5 quick operation and Maintenance Qs

Had my kids watching me while I adjusted my valves, and they couldn't stop laughing at my elbow bouncing up and down while I made the adjustments.

Show me your painted slant sixes!

Yellow air cleaner was temporary and is gone now. Surprised I don't have any pics of it since the super six swap. I used Pontiac Blue rattle can.

5 quick operation and Maintenance Qs

I'll second the importance of doing a compression rest. Blowing oil could be a stuck pcv valve, but it could also be bad rings which would mean a full rebuild. (I just went through this on mine) Change the oil. Get a wix filter. I believe part 51515 but someone correct me if im wrong. Since...

Show your slant 6 a body!

Engine work finally done for a while. It's rebuilt .060 over. Aftermarket cam. Super six carter bbd and HEI electronic ignition. Flowmaster 40 muffler. Up next is to put in the disc brakes, and drive it as-is until next year when I can work on the body. http://youtu.be/jZwD1o8BCvQ

    wont stay running...again

1 more vote for vacuum leak. I'm having a identical problem with a rebuilt slant. I sprayed some carb cleaner around the intake, and the engine steadies out, which tells me I've got a vacuum leak. While in park or neutral, it will run decent but not great. (Idle quite a bit higher than I'd...

    Rattle under the valve cover

None of that for me. Not gonna risk the lifetime of my hair on it lol. As an aside... Damn, the valve adjustments have so far had the biggest impact on the smoothness this car runs. Amazing the difference it's made. And the rattling has still not returned.

    Rattle under the valve cover

Well, taking things 1 thing at a time I adjusted the valves (boy that was fun! Still got oil in my hair) and put a new gasket on. And strangely... I haven't noticed the rattling sound anymore. Will have to drive it a bit more to see if it's gone for good, but we'll see how it goes.

Alright, thanks guys. Just one question. Can anyone snap a picture of the torque converter cover? <------ Noob

    Rattle under the valve cover

Not really. Took it up to 90mph once about 3 months ago, but that's it. I found a post by slantsixdan about valve adjustments that looks pretty thorough. Possibly more advanced than what I'm capable of, though.

    Rattle under the valve cover

It does it cold or hot, but only when in idle while in gear. It seems once the engine gets over a 800-1000 rpms the rattle goes away. Don't have a tach, so just an estimate on the rpms.

    Rattle under the valve cover

Alright, I got down under the car and it seems to be louder near the transmission, but it's really hard to tell. I pulled the valve cover and took some pics, not sure if they will help. Some of the (rockers? Really not good with terminology) can wiggle side to side if I grab them, but not...

    Rattle under the valve cover

I have a 69 valiant. 225 automatic. It's had a rattle while in drive (only at low speeds) and had figured it was the grille or something rattling. Today, had a helper push the brake in gear and I got out to listen. It's definitely coming from under the valve cover. I know I won't know what it...

Changed throttle cable, dies when driving

Problem was the springs were side by side and getting caught with each other and locking the throttle open. For the hose, I'm lost on this. I see nowhere it could likely be connected to.

Changed throttle cable, dies when driving

O_o Decided to take a good look at the carb today and take some photos. What is this hose coming off the carb and leading to nowhere? FYI this is a Holley 1920 on a slant 6 225. 69 plymouth valiant.

Changed throttle cable, dies when driving

The accelerator stuck on me on my way home a while ago. I saw that the cable was very rusty and loose, so opted to replace it, believing that to be the cause. Later, the accelerator stuck again and that's when I noticed that there were 2 springs tangled together. My best guess is that the...

Changed throttle cable, dies when driving

Another question, before I go down the road of rebuilding the carb... would using 87 octane gas cause these symptoms as well? I don't know why the thought hadn't crossed my mind before, but the stalling seems to have started up around the same time as when I filled it up for the first time with 87.
