    intake swap performer loss?

in the past I bowed a hood by pounding it with a sledgehammer (I looked for mine the other day & could not find it). using tinfoil sounds perfect. Pretty sure you have to run a hood & that is not a stupid question. RR

    intake swap performer loss?

Rusty I would if I could! I wanted to cut out a square in the hood & raise it & stay under the 3" bow limit and I was considering what I saw on utube iirc years ago where a guy cut a garbage can lid in half & welded it to the hood for a scoup & I would weld the whole lid & stay under the 3"...

    intake swap performer loss?

I checked & correct the intake cannot be modified. I will get a pic of the air cleaner assy & a side view. a fiberglass hood would be pricey but it for sure would save some weight and you can have a 3" bow in it which if that is available in it would would solve the height problem. RR

    intake swap performer loss?

actually gutting the hood is allowed but the center area where the air cleaner is has no bracing. I dont remember if the adapter is that stacked type or not, I will check. RR

    intake swap performer loss?

that would definitely save me from having to pull the intake. I will measure the thickness of the current adapter. RR

    intake swap performer loss?

I haven't figured a way to measure the height of the air cleaner to the hood but it does look minimal. I will check the 8022 to see how much can be milled but I'm thinking it is doable. there is nothing in the rules regarding this & like Smokey Yunick used to say: if it doesn't say you cant then...

    intake swap performer loss?

they require a rochester 2bbl & even have specs for the booster height etc. I cant believe the vast # of petty rules they have have for this entry level class for example no scalloped ring gear. they dont give anybody a chance to be creative & gain an advantage but I guess they want everything...

    intake swap performer loss?

actually I have a street dominator & the ports look good but the rules wont allow it. I just now brought home the performer & I'm gonna see how its height compares to the weiand that's on their now and to the iron 2bbl intake I have on the shelf. I need to find out if the iron one is a 360 one...

no hood scoup allowed. Professor how to I ID the better 2bbl iron intake? RR

    intake swap performer loss?

even with the drop base it is too tall. that weiand intake is TALL, but its ports sure look generous. plus there's the 4bbl to 2bbl adapter plate which it all adds up. RR

    intake swap performer loss?

63 dart stock car 360 5:57 rear 2bbl rochester. I can use the weiand 8022 "stealth" intake on their now but it is so tall that I cannot close the hood. I'm allowed to use the edelbrock "performer" which is a bit shorter & the IMCA leader said that he would allow me to use the OE iron 2bbl...

    zinc oil useage?

decades ago an experienced racer told me that he changed his oil (& filter iirc) after each Saturday night session & at the time I had just accepted it as gospel thinking how toxic that a dirt track environment must be. it certainly does sound excessive & later someone else has said they changed...

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

I googled Sanborn (a deceased guru here on FABO) & there is some heated pro & con conversations regarding this. I will dig in further & definitely give alot of thought/weight to your info. thank you. RR

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

it is a 3/8 copper tube from the pass oiling gallery over to the drivers side oiling gallery then the passenger side front oil gallery feed down to the #1 main is blocked & the #1 main is fed from the drivers side gallery. this slow down the passenger side flow past 2,3,4 90 deg turns to the...

hard or soft copper line for a valley oil gallery bypass line?

the utube vid that described it said to use a hard copper (I forget the letter designation) but a utube pro plumber said to use soft copper (in his demo) because you would be flaring it. what do you guys think? thank you for your time. RR

    zinc oil useage?

circle track rear gear ratio info needed

Thank you JD! well I remembered I had an A body 8&3/4 (with pumpkin) buried in my stash & yesterday I checked & it is ~ 5&1/2 turns of the pinion for one turn of both drums (not sure if it is a sure grip or if I had welded the spiders) so ~ 5:50 to 1. I could try it but that sure seems a low...

    cam/converter selection

Again bro you have been tremendously helpfull. the eng in the car is pretty much up & running & for this new engine I will gather all of the info you mentioned & call several cam companies & go with the best one. also I will hold off on doing anything with the high stall converter to possibly...

    cam/converter selection

I talked to IMCA & they informed me that i cannot use a Mopar flange on those headers so I didn't even bother to call Schoenfeld. I called Summit & they informed me that I cannot refund my cam as it has been too long since purchasing, Maybe I can persuade them to let me exchange it expecially if...

    cam/converter selection

good info! Yes I see where they have changed the rules for the exhaust. I will call schoenfeld & see I can get that header with a mopar flange. I'm wondering if I should get the kit instead of the finished header & mock it up & see if it will fit my very tight chassis as is or it needs...

    cam/converter selection

You're fine bro & very much appreciated! that's real good to know about the flanges as the restricted exhaust has been on my mind quite a bit. I will dig in & see if I can figure out if they will fit as it is real tight in there.
