I finally installed my flip-top cap and found that the cap hits the body at the back side of the latch. I am using an original cap from a 1967 Barracuda. This is not a problem as I wanted to seal the adapter to the body, so using some gasket material I cut two gaskets, doubled them up and...

Check the beginning of the thread. He is making an adapter that allows you to use a flip-top gas cap like those from a 67 - 69 Barracudas and (not sure what years) Chargers instead of the stock cap. You will need to get the flip-top gas cap, many vendors sell them new or a good used one will work.

I believe the gas cap changed between 66 and 67 to a deeper cap. The locking tabs on the later models go in to the filler neck deeper. This cap will not tighten on a 66 or earlier A body. As for whats what. Usless has it correct as all 63 to 66 Dodge/ Plymouths A's are the same in the fuel...
