    Need help tuning Quickfuel carb

if it still ends up missing at 2500rpm, which is when the main curcuit in your carb comes in, but also when your mech advance and vacuum advance are all working too...you should try driving it with the vacuum advance disconnected. if that fixes your miss, then you need to look at rotating the...

    Need help tuning Quickfuel carb

well that's nice to know. on factory distributors you can rotate the reluctor 180* and put the pin back in. reset timing and...perhaps the phasing will be better??? did you drive it around without the vacuum advance disconnected??

    Need help tuning Quickfuel carb

I've been thinking for a while, there are probably a few problems going on. Sounds like the mains are lean and they come in around 2500. The "get on it then get off then get back on the throttle and it sometimes clears up" sounds like maybe he gets away from the lean miss using the vacuum...

    Need help tuning Quickfuel carb

put the 68 jets in and see if it acts better, remember, if it seems to run well and you keep the jets in. you need to reset your idle mixture screws (highest vacuum or highest rpm is good) after you drive it around to get heat in the motor and carb...

    Need help tuning Quickfuel carb

some quick searching will say that could be from either rich or lean mix or too little timing...or a vacuum leak. check this thread. Yellow Bullet Forums - View Single Post - glowing headers?? help i still think you should throw in some 70 primary jets and see if it clears up.

    Best Quickfuel for my 360

same thoughts here. put one on an almost stock 318, dropped the IFR down a bit and set idle mix. it works great. it was so close out of the box i think it would've been fine if i would've just bolted it on and went...

bought a mystery 850 double pumper...

there were 3 annular carbs, 9379, 9380 and 9381 the 9381 is the 830cfm carb based on the secondary linkage i bet that carb is a 9380, 850cfm, whats the number stamped on the throttle plates? looks like 1.75" plates to me... also might wanna check all the bleeds in the carb, looks like it might...

who is the goto guy on holleys

the carbs i've had that run properly at operating temp are quite grumpy cold and while the motor is warming up. fuel mix is lean as it is warming up. also, you shouldn't have to open the throttle to warm start if your idle mix is set correctly. sounds like it might be quite rich...

    Bugga bugga chugga bugga cruise

carb's run lean when they are cold. that's why you're supposed to do your tuning (idle mix) when the motor is all the way up to operating temp.

    Carb Help Please

if there is nothing wrong with the carb and it's close to baseline holley tune, then i'd imagine you need to be less than a full turn on each idle mix screw. probably around .75 turns out. start at one turn out on each of them then go around the car turning them in 1/16th turn until it starts to...

    10.5 power valve ???

with a 4speed this might be hard to do, but does the motor run perfectly smooth if you steadily drive just off idle? or does it do a little bit of lean surging? just the slightest amount... i'd guess lean in the transition...so your IFR's my truck is doing thing now but i've been too lazy to...

    10.5 power valve ???

that was my other thought, 65's are way small unless you have annular boosters. check the metering blocks for adjustable IFR's while you swap the jets..

    10.5 power valve ???

I would check the metering blocks to see if the idle feed restrictors are replaceable. if so, i would increase them by .002 or whatever the next drill size is and see how that works. i think the 7.5 PV you have now is probably good.

    Idling Issues - Holley Carburetor

also, i wouldn't even begin to worry about the idle feed restrictor until you can get it to idle, that won't affect idle speed.

    Idling Issues - Holley Carburetor

does the carb have holes drilled in the throttle plates? does the carb have the screw down the hole for the air cleaner stud like the demons?? i would adjust the throttle plates so that the primary blades make the transfer slot look square, .020" showing, then adjust the seoncdaries so that you...
