    Big Block Advice Needed

I would pull a head and measure to figure out compression, take a look a the head and see what kind of work has been done. I would consider the other heads if they seem nice. The RPM intake is probably fine for 4000-6000 rpm. I would put a solid cam in it with the rocker arms you have. Here is...

Proposed 400 bb build, cam recommendations

And here is a 432 stroker, 383 block/440 crank. heads good enough to get into the 600hp territory do seem to push the RPM way up. Peak HP at 7500rpm and TQ peak at 6000rpm. Mopar Performance Engine Stroker Build Part 2- Mopar Muscle Magazine

    400 to 451 stroker questions

if you have full deck height or more, or can deal with a thicker gasket then someone could possibly use the Mahle 1.35CH piston, only downside is it has 8cc valve pockets instead of the typical 4-5cc. 9.98 deck height and a 6.76 rod shows to be .005" above deck if my calc is right.

    Solid roller lifters...

isn't there pressurized oil in the lifter bore? seems the same principle that allows oil pressure (in that lifter cutaway) to reach the pushrod cup and run through the pushrod if they allow it, will allow oil pressure to reach roller bushing. surely that little oiling holing to the roller...

    440 Source Head Opinions?

based on that screenshot, the PP 240 heads were 60HP better than the 906 heads and peak HP was the same RPM. that is on a mild build too. that seems pretty good. I'd also wonder if these were some pristine example 906 heads that came out of Dulcich's stash or something too. I know they do...

    New bb build fuel economy

if you're set on using a cast crank you need to think about line boring the mains on the block to the 440 crank journals. if you use a set of rods at 6.76" (440 rods) then you can use a pretty common 1.32" compression height piston, made by many places. Trick Flow 240s rocker help

email Harland Sharp and ask. I emailed them about fulcrum length on the Mancini rockers and they gave me a good reply. They even mentioned that the Mancini rockers are a copy of the Crane rockers. I was emailing about small block rockers though. So perhaps just email to double check...

    COMP Cams Nostalgia Plus

if you look in the comp lobe catalog the XE lobes and Purple Plus lobes seem pretty similar duration at .050 and .200 the XE cam he is looking at is smaller than the Purple Plus cam he posted by a few sizes though. if he looked at the XE 278 lobe then he would be very similar to the Purple plus cam.

    Compression test results

i'm talking about the braided wire cable. maybe try it this way. take the braided wire out of the anchor. leave the anchor in the carb linkage. push the carb linkage back so it's WOT, mark the braided wire so it will slide into the anchor an inch or so...cut the wire there and insert it into the...

    Compression test results

did you figure out what stroke your crank is? wondering if @PRH was correct with the combo as far as deck height/gasket thickness and getting to that 10.3 compression ratio or whatever it was.

    Compression test results

it sounds cammy because the idle mix is too rich. the plugs point that direction too. do what PRH said, rebuild the carb. stock jetting as a starting point. read alot about tuning carbs. set the idle mix after the motor is at running temp.

    Help identify aluminum heads

the promaxx has the larger combustion chamber because it's a copy of the edelbrock RPM head which is the 84cc chamber. the heads you have are the smaller heart shaped chamber that's either 74 or 78cc, the ledge on the intake manifold mating surface of the head indicates it's the Victor head...

    Help identify aluminum heads

Took a minute but i found that part number (mahle changed their part numbers a while back and yr pic has the old one) I dont see how they got 500ci or 10-10.5:1 compression. Mahle pistons arent dished, they have large valve pockets. maybe the motor does have a 4.375” stroke and its actually a...

I don’t think promaxx does a victor copy. Maybe the PO meant procomp. I think those piston part numbers are for mahle pistons. Supposed to be nice with a good ring pack.

    Help identify aluminum heads

The huge ledge at the intake face on the heads means its raised port. Should be 2.19 i take valves, 75cc heart shaped chambers. Its a copy of the edelbrock victor heads. There are alot of threads here on these heads. At some point the bowls shrunk alot and the heads required more work to get the...

Torque Converter? Where am I at? What is compromised?

since we're talking converters, are the units from Dynamic, PTC, Continental etc., better or higher tech than the Turbo Action converters. Like the S800 10" (17805). Is there something magical in the units from the newer companies that aren't in the Turbo Action, I wonder when I see comments...

    Degreeing a Cam, or not.....

i think the cam is enough to get in the 11's since you have such good heads. I would fix the ICL on the cam and run it for a bit. I would be real curious to see how much better it runs and how much more cranking psi you get just from getting the cam in 4* advanced instead of 4* retarded. I...
