    4.0L HO Jeep Engine Build

I'm looking at a 74 j-10 jeep pickup right now. I might have to build one of these suckers to go in it as this thread is inspriring my sickness. I know nothing about jeeps just like I knew nothing about barracudas ten years ago, time for a new game????? Insert evil laugh..........

    4.0L HO Jeep Engine Build

Cool thread. I always liked the 4.0l Jeep motors and really got the chance many times to beat the living crap out of jeep cherokees while working at a rental car outfit years back. I would take them in the woods and go ape-shight with em, also in the snow and pavement. We used to have...

    Frustrated

Yep, gotta be able to smoke the tires. Try a line loc and even wet the damn pavement if you have to because the car is built to plant the tires, but maybe get someone to help you tune that sucker to the optimum and you should be on your way to setting off some smoke alarms. Good luck man...

    Frustrated

Does the engine have torque strap? That will transfer some more power to the drivetrain and relieve some engine twist on acceleration. I have some of the same issues with my 4 speed, 360, sure grip 3.23 gears, ss springs, pinion snub, and wide, sticky composition tires. I built the car...

    1978 360

Yes, the heads are fully ported and the intake matched nicely. This baby likes to breathe and really opens up after 4500 rpm.

    1978 360

Yeah, I know, it is pretty mild compared to some of the stroker motors I have seen here.

    1978 360

All the engine builder told me was they are MP forged pistons, but I never did get a parts list breakdown on all the part #'s. I have also had some people tell me there is no way a non stroker can make that horsepower, but why would the guy lie to me, and I have the dyno sheets with 8 pulls.

    1978 360

I'm running a non stroked 78 360 with J- style heads, M/P rods, 11.0-1 M/P pistons, cast crank. Puts out just shy of 450 horse.

    Mechanical vs. electric fuel pump?

I'm running a Jegs electric pump, vein style which works great but it's noisy as hell.....wwwwwrrrrraaaaawwwwww,.........wwwrrrrraaahhhhhhhwwwwwww....wwwwrrrrrraaaaawwwww.......etc...... I have loud exhaust right now and I'm running straight resonators so I can't hear the pump as much as I...

    Show me your tachs!

I put the tach under the dash due to lack of bracketry to mount on the dash, but I did mount the remote shift light on the steering column.

    street/strip 360

The Torino should be no problem spanking, but those GTO 400 small block's can open up a can of whoop *** on you real quick. I say find a buddy with some good engine building skills and build yourself a nice 360.

    STR 14 linkage help

Not sure if this will help, but mancinis has this kit at the bottom of the page for big block cross rams using M/P crossram and edelbrock carbs. This may be totally wrong for what you are looking for, but they may steer you to someone who has what you're looking for...

    Small block strokers. Your findings.

Here are a couple stroker combo's built from a local engine builder with a great reputation from our Mopar club members. He has tons of street-strip and full race motors still going strong. I will not leave his name and # so this won't be considered a for sale ad. I really wanted to trade...

Let's see your hemi scoop pins.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to install my reinforcement pins on my hemi scoop. Any ideas how you would do it by concealing the bolt heads?

    dual quad small blocks?

One of the coolest , most impressive intake i've seen on a small block was on a 68 dart and it had a 360 with a small block cross ram intake. The car looked like a super stock hemi car and you could see the carbs inside the hemi scoop just like a hemi car. I want one bad for my 67 notch.
