P,R,N,3,2,1 Is correct for a standard vb. I've run a forward and reverse with mine and no way could you change the shift pattern with the shifter, but you do have to start with it in the right position to adjust it with either vb.

i used Autolite 3924 in my small block and think they are listed for big block also.
