    automatic transmission

It should be a 904. The only two autos Chrysler made were the 727 and the 904. The 727 was available behind the big blocks and small blocks in certain applications, and the 904 behind the small blocks only. 318s in the A Bodies came with 904's. This should help...

    kickdown cable

If you're looking for cheap, just grab a kickdown cable off of a Dodge truck or a van. I've got two kickdown cables (one already went into the dart, works great), one from a 4x4 durango with an A500 and one from a late eighties dodge van with an A518. Both the cables are the same, just make sure...

    Question about CRT 904-4 trans

Exactly, and you never know with an aftermarket trans. Who knows who put it together, or put it in? It's possible that if there's enough play in the shaft it could push the converter into the flexplate, of course, now that I think about that, there would probably be some evidence of...

    Question about CRT 904-4 trans

I would check the end play of the transmission input shaft. I suppose it's possible that a transmission with too much shaft play could put excessive wear on the crank when shifting.

The a500 swap is near!!! Could use advice

http://bmracing.com/?wpsc-product=chrysler-sfi-flexplate-‘71-’92-chrysler-360-wtf904 Should be what you need. I've got the same one in my '72. I doubt your car came with 2.4's for gears, maybe 2.91s or close to that. I don't think they ever offered gearing that low in anything. Does...

Any easy options for Overdrive on an RB????

Yes you can use the hi performance clutches in them. They make thinner frictions and steels that allow you to fit several more than stock in the od unit. And yes inkjunkie, the weak point is the OD unit, but for the price, you can't beat it. A properly built 518 will handle whatever most people...

Mcleods 5 speed at SEMA and info update

If what they have said is to be believed, there aren't going to be any modifications required. I'm planning on getting one, so I guess we'll see how it works. I'm not going to spend $4,300 on the Passon box (which, by the way, isn't actually based on the 833, it just looks like the 833) to have...

Any easy options for Overdrive on an RB????

No, the main case is different too. And while the weak point on the 518 (or any overdrive) is the overdrive clutch packs, you can fit several more than stock in the housing, so strength doesn't become an issue. The 727 was the strongest stock auto (aside from the allison transmissions), and the...

Any easy options for Overdrive on an RB????

518 if you want to swap bellhousings.

    518 trans

Yes. You will need a bell housing spacer and a conversion flexplate.

    automatic trans floor shifters

Depending on the type of switch, yes. If it's a momentary switch, you'd need to change it.

    Overdrive Transmission Question

If you're looking to really save fuel, a Gear Vendors isn't the best way to go. If you've got a rareish car that you don't want to cut up, then go for it. Otherwise, go for the 500/518, a better overdrive and you get lock up.

    couple bolt pattern questions

If I'm not mistaken, all A body 8.75's were SBP. After 73 (I think) your axle options were 7.25 or 8.25, both in BPB.
