Peak horsepower is not the goal here, more low/mid range torque is. That said this is the cam that Oregon cams recommend. I also did a lot of reading on here and Slant six.org. I got the impression that this is a good choice. Not to far in the process to change if there are better choices out there.

Is there a good replacement starter for a slant out there? Maybe something from a newer model? Mine is the original 72 starter just doesn't seem to have it anymore.

1972 /6 HEI coil, Pertronics module. Car starts really well cold. Runs perfect while driving but stop for gas or a soda and it is really hard to start. The only way it will start is with a wide open throttle and a long cranking period. Any tips to help would be great. Thanks
