    Lower Control arm Tools

Everyone's been talking about "removing" the LCA bushing, and shaft, but when all that is said and done, your still going to be needing a press, to press the "shaft" into the new bushing, then everything back into the lower control arm. I press the shaft into the bushing, first, then i press the...

    Stupid machining question -cylinder head

No, your not. At one of the repair shops that i wrenched at, in the dinosaur days, the shop owner had a giant belt sander machine, that was used to resurface cylinder heads. Aluminum, or cast iron. Didn't matter. It was water cooled, on the belt, when turning on the machine. Used it lots of...

Press for Drum Bearing Races, Seals - What to Buy???

As others have already stated, you don't need a press, or even an official bearing and seal driver kit. Just put the old race on top of the new one, and pound it into the hub. Flip it over, and then punch out the old race. Easy peasy. Or if you do lots of races, as a professional mechanic would...

Found this tool. What's it called? Who makes it?

Don't think those tools were invented yet during the 1970's when i was in the AF. And working around jet aircraft you had a certain amount of tools in your CTK, (consolidated tool kit) that were authorized to be in there, and nothing else. A highly inventoried tool system, if something got lost...

Found this tool. What's it called? Who makes it?

Living under the GEICO rock, i guess. Like i stated, i never heard of one before. And as another made comment, i always had another proper tool, to correctly get the job done. When i saw it, i was calling it a Swiss army knife, vice grip plyer, not knowing it's proper name. :D And i can bet you...

Hi, (The other Jim) Ya, exactly, nothing happened when i cut that torsion bar in two, with the grinder tool. I will say though, i didn't hear any kind of "bang" or bad sounds, when the bar got cut, over the sound of the grinder cutting through the bar. Easy peasy, and nothing like making a...
