    Anyone done a strong 400 build ?

a 400 with moderate compression (9.5:1) and a reasonable cam (under .500) and some decent heads-- breathed on 906/915 or eddy's will put down 400+ all day without even breaking a sweat. a little more cam and some head work would see you knocking on the door of 500 pretty easy without anything...

Super Stock Hemi Cylinder Head Porting with Darin Morgan

i have this holley economaster 450 that i got in a trade with some funky 8 bolt crank that i 'll be using as an anchor. do you think it's worth the upgrade to a 500? i could probably sell that 450, i hear you don't see them that often any more and they're getting harder to find.

Super Stock Hemi Cylinder Head Porting with Darin Morgan

excellent. that's what i was hoping to hear. i'll port match them to this "torker" intake i just picked up. by name alone this promises huge potential in power production down low.

Super Stock Hemi Cylinder Head Porting with Darin Morgan

excellent. these 302 heads should work marvelously on this 426 stroker, then.

Super Stock Hemi Cylinder Head Porting with Darin Morgan

what type of porting would you suggest to increase torque? i'm building a tugboat to enter the regatta and first prize is a very prestigious and coveted country club membership that includes a trip to a private island to hunt the most dangerous game known to man. obviously, i'll need all the...

speedmaster stuff pulled from Summit racing shelves

oh that's 100% when the lawyers throw the net they're gonna cast as wide and as far as possible. i'm guessing this is summit taking counter measures to limit their liability. i mean, also good on them for proactively dropping everything. that sends a strong message and is good for the...

Sounds like new drag racing, donut circuses fines going up.

not that i condone it in the slightest, and i offer this as an observation, but the intersections in south LA (at the dount shop) and west hills are absolutely massive, that whole thing at the 6th street bridge is dumbfounding. it's a TINY area and on top of that there's literally nowhere to go...

Sounds like new drag racing, donut circuses fines going up.

some cities in CA are impounding and crushing cars, and they passed a new law that allows for ticketing spectators-- there was one on the books, the new one is a little more nuanced and in addition to fines it also touches up your license (either revoked/suspended or limited) but that means you...

    Is this car worth 8000

if i had 10K burning a hole in my pocket and enough free time to get up to no good, then i'd totally scoop something like this. if the body isn't total trash and you could grab it fro 6~7 and throw another 3~4 at it to go have some fun then why not. i'd go into knowing that i 100% would not...

    Is this car worth 8000

if you wanted to play saturday night stop light eliminator, this would be the perfect car for that. you'd probably be 10K or so into making it safe and driveable, but it'd still be pretty rough and tumble. fast and ugly doesn't command big money, or any money really. conservatively, to make...

    Is this car worth 8000

if the body's not all rotted out (the front floors appear good), and it runs/drives, and the title isn't a mess it's probably worth that in parts as a kick around go fast machine. it's mos def rickey-racer, and coming back from that to gen pop to sell is a tough row to hoe. and "race car" has...

    Camshaft ID

well, that's a turn of the worm. i can say with almost 100% certainty that's a custom ground cam and there's probably two or maybe three people that know what the specs are: the cam grinder, whoever ported the heads and the engine builder. and maybe the owner. maybe. possibly. anyway with that...

    Camshaft ID

for the engraving i see 308/314 then R8-24488 BC (the R might be a B or a 3) i can't make out the stamping. further info of what it came out of or any details: was it a hot rod motor? does it have high compression pistons, did the seller say it was a race motor? etc etc i surmise that...

Sealing the backseat aluminum plate from the trunk area.

depending on the gap size, you have a bunch of options. if the fit up is pretty reasonable, i like the 3M seam sealer. it comes in a pressurized tube and you just shoot it in there like cheeze whiz and wipe it down with a gloved finger or damp towel like caulking a window frame.

I'm thinking I put too small a cam in my 360 Magnum...

you have the gears and stall for the cam, but with that compression and that much carb it's probably going to be a little lazy till it wakes up and gets cookin'

    Man the memories. This hurts

my gal adios'd a grip of my thrashed work shirts (both t-shirt and overshirt) a friend of ours daughter bought them all to resell on her etsy store. i don't know what she sells them for but we got enough to go out for a really nice steak dinner.

    Man the memories. This hurts

i would pay five whole american dollars to see pics of you rocking some ellie platforms and plaid! keep it funky PBR! all kidding aside, you could probably get some good money for the shirts. the quick and painless way would be to find a local vintage/consignment/kitsch shop and just roll over...

    Scams are heating up

time served isn't always the best judgement. i've got a guy who's been here a long time ghosting me going on a month after paying him for parts. trust your instincts and assess what level of risk you're willing to take before parting with your hard earned cash.

SB Road Racing/Nascar/Sprint Car/Reving BUDGET BUILD

a stock 5.9 is probably safe to 6K but more than likely would run out of breath well before then. with ARP bolts and aftermarket (lighter, forged) pistons i don't see why it couldn't live to 7 (with proper oiling mods) but again, without an induction system that could support that it's kind...

SB Road Racing/Nascar/Sprint Car/Reving BUDGET BUILD

the more i look at where you're trying to go, the more i'm inclined to say just go 5.9 you get cubes, good flowing heads and a roller motor from the jump. snap on a 4bbl intake, throw some garage porting at the heads, get a cam and match the springs, roller rockers if you're feeling it...
