confusion torsion bars or no torsion bars

they do! and they have a very detailed diagram of the mounting location measurements which is critical. seriously every other set of headers basically just comes with a sheet of paper that's got a handwritten note that says: ha ha, good luck!

not exactly where you want to start with a big block build. hope you got all the other big expensive pieces already.

    1963 Dodge Dart 440 727 install.

i've done a 64 using a motor plate and had to hammer the pinch weld flat along with some "massaging" on various bits for clearance. the hump in the firewall needed a love letter from the BFH that read: pound to fit, paint to match. it was a manual brake car without a heater, so other than that...

    1973 duster wheel bolt pattern

same as above. if it's drums, it'll be SBP if it's discs BBP. but also, as above, anything can change in 50 years. verify before you buy or at least make sure you can return them if they're wrong.

    1967 cuda 273-440 swap details.

it would be near impossible to sit down and write an entire list of everything that you need, where to get it and what you should spend. i'll do my best to help you out, but some stuff you're just going to need to either figure out or do a bunch of research on-- which you already are, and is...

expert help needed (my first post)

interior makes or breaks sales. it's a hard line in the sand for a lot of buyers because of the known expense involved, let alone the hassle of chasing anything down should it be missing. if your interior is tatty, or a half cobbled together amalgamation of modern and vintage bits n' bobs you...

here's a few comps: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-plymouth-barracuda-31/ still a small bock, but nicely appointed. mid 20's https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1967-plymouth-barracuda-36/ again a small block, but with a modern 6spd and vintage air. it's not perfect, but shows nicely...

expert help needed (my first post)

well, it sounds like you've got a good foundation to work with. personally, if i were in your position i'd keep it small block and go find a decent running 318 or 360. you could probably even find one somebody's pulled out and selling on the cheap. maybe throw some parts at it if you're feeling...

expert help needed (my first post)

since it's your first foray and you're budget limited, i would strongly suggest that you stay small block. while the (possibly) 4K price tag on a big block looks super enticing, all of the peripherals needed to install it will absolutely bury you. to get that thing shoehorned in there you're...

    67 Dart 273 swap to 383

if you meet the following criteria, then i'd say proceed. 1- why? because i wanted to, that's why. 2- i am a masochist 3- i like to spend a lot of money 4- i have fabrication skills and access to a machinist or can do machine work 5- my beer supply is unlimited

    Timing Jumping Around

my thought is for 15 bucks i know that it's gonna fit right, it's hardened and correct for the application, and i don't have to drive to two different hardware stores hoping that they might have it.

    400 motor parts

i get the sentiment of wanting to boil the hides at 45... but i'd be going about in a different way and building something that makes an absolute mountain of torque downtown... and a tarantula with a 274 isn't really the best way to do that. but i digress... i'd yank the valve covers and have...

    Any Old School Machinists Here?

@MOPARMAGA please don't associate my name with pejorative language. i would appreciate it if you didn't do that in the future. to spell the joke out for you: if you need a shorter timing chain, why not use a timing chain tensioner. use of timing chain tensioners in smallblocks is a divisive...

What all do i need to take to machine shop?

whatever crank you go with-- stock or stroker, make sure that it is compatible with your transmission of choice. drilled for pilot if manual, correct register for torque converter. re: power/400hp goal. i don't see much of a problem achieving that goal in that it's <1.25hp/ci you'll want...

What all do i need to take to machine shop?

i'd take in basically the short block-- block, crank, caps, rods & pistons. let them check the bore/block and crank and if that all looks good then decide to move forward, make the call on the rods which is more cost effective refurb or buying new. if the crank is waxed, a stroker is probably...

    440 in 72 Dart Swinger?

good headers are going to be one of the biggest line items here and making your decisions early is a must. underchassis, fenderwell, power steering, power brakes, ac are all considerations that should be adressed before you start. if you're not in a rush and looking to go bucks down, you can...

    Headers with power steering

the car that i installed them on was pretty standard with 15" americans and probably 215's or maybe 225's and there didn't seem to be any clearance issues so i can't really speak to anything much more exotic than that. so i'd hazard a guess that if you kept it reasonable you should be okay.

    Headers with power steering

they're slip fit at the collector. the tubes that go around the frame are separate. the set i did had tabs for exhaust springs on the pipe and collector to hold them tight. i'm not sure but i believe that they're made by TTI

    273 to 383 Formula S Barracuda

i concur doctor. the 273 commando as it sits is a perfectly cromulent hot little street motor. maybe massage the heads a little, maybe an intake-- something like a performer or small runner weiand, bump the cam a little but leave it solid lifter. you know, just the basic kinds of hop up stuff...
