Exhaust Gas Regulator, gets vacuum through a ported screw in valve on the intake manifold .If i remember the slant 6,s i had when hooked to vacuum were very noisey when not working properly , prob why it is not hooked up .

It seems very quick for the gauge, to start moving .Did you try a hand held gauge you thread in , to see the actual temp.

I would say horn relay also .Take the part # off the back of it and check , or unplug it see if it starts.

I have never had a rad hose colapse , neither top or bottom .And i had slants, 318, 340, 360, 383, 440. If it sucks shut there is a problem , air lock prob, and i remember changing thermostats in the slants , and they would air lock like crazy. But the Good Year part# is 60910.

Part number 60910 Good Year , eventually these all flex hoses will take the neck off your radiator .I used to sell them and hated when a person wanted one , great for an old tractor ect.

Love to have an old truck again , but no possible wher i live , all gone . Hard to find anything in the earlt 2000,s that not rusted bad.

Some years have a valve adjustment , i think it was 10 thou on the intake and 20 on the exhaust , will quiet it right down i did it one time on a 79 volare i had , big difference.
