    340 swinger z bar installation

I double checked and my installation looks just like your picture. Problem is there are 9 inches from the frame to the bellhousing and my zbar is only 7 inches long.

    340 swinger z bar installation

My bellhousing doesn't have the offset I see on yours, not certain why. I have gathered parts from everywhere, thinking they are the same but doesn't appear to be the case. Do you suppose the offset unit for a big block would work?

    340 swinger z bar installation

Hey all - the continuing saga of my 70 dart rebuild now has me trying to install the z bar assembly. I purchased an installation kit but it seems the z bar is about 2" too short. I see an offset ball stud bracket but it is identified as a Big Block part, I'm installing a 340 into what was a 6...

    4speed questions

I have two 3 speeds, one is a column shift unit and the other is a floor shift unit. The floor shift unit has the same bolt pattern as my 4 speed and the column shift unit is different. The two bellhousings I have look like pictures 1 and 2 above.

3 speed to 4 speed behind slant six

You will have to look at your bellhousing to see, there are two mounting patterns, one wide and short and one like the tranny in the picture. The made some bellhousings with noth patterns and some without. By the way, the tranny in the picture is a long tail and not normal for an A body, but...

3 speed to 4 speed behind slant six

You need to make certain the tranny is the same length, it is probably longer since the A body transmission has a short tail shaft, which makes it more difficult if that is the case. If it is the same length, then you need to cut a whole in the floor and add a hump for the 4 speed shifter. If...

    which 833 for a body ?

You can put a B body tranny in it if it has both the front and rear mounting locations, I have seen plans on this site to build an adaptor bracket. The A body shifter mounts between the B and E body locations. You would have to shorten the drive shaft of course. A detail which may be more...

    413 into dart swinger

Guys - Am looking to install a 413 into my 70 dart and since I am basically a small block guy, I am asking for some guidance with the big block install. I need to procure a bell housing and flywheel for the 413 and really prefer one which will allow an 11" clutch. I don't see much for big...

Need help identifying shifter- Hurst Compe Plus

I have seen this before on older shifters, the bolt going through the handle from front to back is I believe holding it on, newer shifters used the two hole pattern. I had one of these in a 67 cougar 4 speed car, changed the handle out by cutting the bottom off the old one and welding to the...
