    Move the throttle lever by hand slowly while looking down the carb (engine off) . Does fuel squirt as soon as you start moving the throttle? If not that may be your issue . The accelerator pump needs to be adjusted .

    Power wash the bare block , blow it dry and a couple cans of WD40 then wipe it down . You can never wash a block too much .

    It will clearance itself the first time you hit 6k rpms …lol Worth the time to disassemble and clearance then a good wash . But while it is assembled mark where the bolts come close to the block with a grease pencil or such .

    I’ve heard that too big of gasket bore can lead to pooling of fuel in the recess between head and block . Any validity to that ?

    My W2s are closed chamber iron race heads . I run 9.7 comp and my cam is a 246/250 on a 108. No issues … I think the TF chambers are as good or better so they should support high 10s compression. The quench will be the trick . You could install .050 gaskets instead of .020 and get more...

    my 408 has W2 Harland Sharp 1.6s . No issues with oiling both ways . Check for excess clearance at the lifters just to be safe . And make sure the lifter oiling hole is not exposed at max lift .

    I would run Cometic .020 gaskets to get good quench which will allow you to run more compression without detonation . You should be safe running 11:1 with the alloy heads and a good timing curve . You running a digital ignition?

    Same engine as the Mazda MX6….IIRC Carbon build up exacerbated the issue .
