    10-4, i thought you just swapped the chunk and we could rule out the axle bearings..... all the bearings are suspect. ..a lift would be good, so as get under it while someone worked the gas and another could check with stehasope(or screwdriver)\ at each bearing location to locate the offender

    904 band adjustment

    FROM 1971 book kickdown, loosen lock nut and back off approx 5 turns. Test adjusting screw for free turnign in the lever. ..if adapter C-3705 is NOT used , tighten adjusting screw to 72 Inch-lbs. back off adjusting screw 2 turns. hold adjusting screw in this position and tighten lock nut...

    Yoke spline count??

    small yoke is 7260 style i think the large one is 7290 i seem to remember the nut size on the yoke is the key to he spline count..it was in a post reply by Dr diff and if you rebuild a 489 case, get the solid spacer($30) to put in place of the collapseable crush spacer

    a gear set 195-227, bearings and shims 95-125 and clutch posi rebuild kit 60-75....350-427 retail if it was a real good gear set(higher price) there should be no noise or so very little it's not bothersome...provided it's set up correctly ...the popping noise your hearing when turning sounds...
