Replace light tube in timing light?

Yeah, I'll assume it's the flash circuitry. The pickup and trigger circuitry is working, at least as far as the tachometer portion because it reads RPM just fine. It just doesn't flash.

Replace light tube in timing light?

Looking for a replacement flash tube, I found a page on toolsource.com where (1) the tube is discontinued and (2) it says don't bother replacing the tube: So maybe I'll just use this one as a tach and get a new one for timing.

Replace light tube in timing light?

Has anybody replaced the strobe in a modern timing light? I have an Actron 7529 (made by Bosch), inductive timing light with dial-back and tachometer. The light quit working, so it still reads RPM but can't be used for timing. I asked the manufacturer how to get a replacement strobe, and they...

Any engineers out there? Need a simple pallet-elevator

A 2:1 pulley system will reduce the load on the winch because the winch only need apply half as much force (but over twice the distance). It may reduce side loading on the pulley mount, and it should reduce the transient load (starting and stopping), but it will not reduce the static vertical...

Any engineers out there? Need a simple pallet-elevator

The longer you make the 4 cables from the pallet corners, the more stable it will be--but the higher you'll have to put the pulley above the storage platform.

Help with Grinding wheel for angle grinder....what kind?

Maybe you know this already, but it's probably rusting from the inside out. I learned that recently as I documented in this thread. So fixing the outside won't do any good unless you also stop the rust from the inside or completely cut out all the rust. I chose to try to stop it from the...

    Lighting improvements

+1 for the warehouse club 4 foot LED option. It's great for lighting up a single area like a work bench and doesn't require any wiring because it just plugs into the wall power. Also no hum like the fluorescent lights. Full disclosure: I also have several 8' fluorescent lamps in my garage.

    Engine RPM iPhone App

Has anyone tried this app? It listens to the sound of your engine and displays the rpm. It's a good idea, but the only review on iTunes says it doesn't work. I'd try it just to see, but it's $8.99. Engine RPM

    sand blasting slow

On the first two I used Duplicolor's rattle-can wheel paint in silver. For primer I used Duplicolor flat black primer/paint in one. I left the back sides black. I think they look pretty good, but the silver is a little sparkly.

    sand blasting slow

Cheers to MoparMitch for allowing me to use his blasting cabinet today. I got my last three wheels done nicely. If I need to use the cabinet at work again I'll ask the machinist to add more media and see if that helps.

    sand blasting slow

The machinist at my workplace has a sandblasting cabinet, somewhere between hobbyist and industrial. I thought it would be nice to clean up some old wheels, but it took me about 2 hours per wheel to get them clean, and even then they weren't as clean as you might expect. The picture shows what...
