muriatic acid, OK for carb soaking?

It's true, muriatic acid is used to adjust swimming pool water's pH. I might put in a quart in a 12,000 gallon pool to lower the pH to where it needs to be. It is severely diluted and I suspect one could dilute HCl acid enough to be safe for dipping a carb because I could throw it in my pool and...

Burning real rich after winter storage

If the power valve diaphragm fails or leaks, it will allow fuel to enter the intake manifold through the carburetor base plate. This can cause a very rich condition at idle and low speed

Burning real rich after winter storage

My bet is a faulty needle and seat that is causing very high gas levels in the float bowl or bowls.

    Holley Sniper Issues

If you are using the Hyperspark dist. and matching coil, you can use the old coil wires (brown and blue) tied together to provide power to the Sniper ignition module since the module powers the coil. You also don't need the ballast resistor. I modified my ballast resistor by soldering a good...

    Electric fuel pump mounting?

This is how I mounted my fuel pump on my 71 Barracuda. I need to bend the plate back towards the fuel tank a 1/4 inch because the fuel pump straps just barely contact the rear end. Rod IMG_4783.JPG

The outboard carbs do have air fuel mixture screws that are preset and hidden behind lead plugs at the base of the throttle plates.

I have a Sniper on a LD340 on my 408. The cam is pretty mellow, so tell you the truth, I have never checked how much vacuum my engine pulls. Works well.

    Holley idle mixture screws

Good picture, as the pic shows, the jets only limit (unless severely undersized) fuel flow at wide open throttle. As air flows thru the venturi of the carb (narrowing of the opening), it creates a low pressure which allows the higher atmospheric pressure in the float bowl to squirt fuel into the...

    Six pack...

Mopar designed the outboard carbs a small potion of the idle circuitry to allow some fuel usage from the outboard carbs so that the gas in the float bowls would be used and not stagnate in case you never opened them up, like that ever happened. Anyhow, they were preset and leaded over from the...

    Fuel lines

I would go with a 3/8 oem material. I got mine from inline tube and they were very nice and not that expensive. At first I tried to replicate a 3/8 line from my existing 5/16 and I failed pretty miserably. I normally can do most things, but the fuel lines have funky bends. I really wonder how...

    Six pack too freaking rich..

Check basics such as float levels and no vacuum leaks. Do you see dribbling down the throat of any carb when running? Also, make sure your ignition system is perfect. Many times carb problems are really an ignition problem.
