    Clutch Type Sure-grip Chatter?

Nope, didn't put a drain plug in! I think I'll do that when I swap in some new oil and additive. Thanks for the feedback everybody.

    Clutch Type Sure-grip Chatter?

Hi All, I just had a 741 w/ a clutch type sure-grip rebuilt and now after maybe 200-miles it's making some interesting chattering noises when I turn at low speeds the until it's nice and warm. Sadly, I forget which type gear oil I put in it after the rebuild. I think it was Royal Purple -...

Axle Retainer Nut Torque w/ Green Bearings?

It'll be a few weeks at least but ill get the chunk out and check the gear pattern. Should I just sludge the compound on the pinion and spin the gear a few times?

Axle Retainer Nut Torque w/ Green Bearings?

Thanks for all the feedback. I'll have the gear backlash checked eventually, my 3.91s are stock. Are aftermarket gears quieter than stock? As far as the "whine" goes?

Axle Retainer Nut Torque w/ Green Bearings?

I installed an 8 3/4 recenty and I've finally got the car on the road with a 3.91 clutch type suregrip which was professionally inspected and I'm told it looked really clean and totally functional. The suregrip is working great going straight and on turns. The issue is that I'm getting a slight...

    Bolts for Pinion Snubber?

I know this is an old post but does anyone know the pitch and how many of the bolts you need? I'm in need to snubber hardware too and want to get it right the first time.

    8 3/4 for a Early A Body

Good article, thanks. I'm still deciding the easiest option for me... Since I would like to keep my 14" sbp cragars I think I'm stuck with paying for a sbp a-body setup else I need to deal with the various extra work involved in making another axle work. Then again it may be cheaper to get...

    8 3/4 for a Early A Body

Yeah, I'm thinking of getting in touch with an old metal working friend of mine. This sounds right up his alley. Thanks for all the info!

    8 3/4 for a Early A Body

Great reference document. So If I end up with a B body housing would most drivetrain shops be able to narrow it and relocate the perches? I'm assuming that involves moving the end flanges, getting custom length axles and obviously cutting and welding the perches... that sound about right?

    8 3/4 for a Early A Body

I have a '66 Dart and I've been looking for an early a-body 8 3/4 axle w/ a clutch type suregrip - very hard to find so far! My question is can I modify other chassis axles to fit my application? Like a b-body or a pickup? I can find these readily and they are a lot more affordable. Any...

    904 and stall converter q's

Thanks, Fishy! I'm told their is a better selection of tq converters for the 27-spline... is it possibel to convert the input shaft or am I better on getting a newew 904 for my build? Thanks again.

    904 and stall converter q's

So if the tranny has a typical slip joint setup to the drive shaft is it safe to assume that it has 27 splines on the input shaft? I have a '66 dart w/ a 2-bbl 273 and my 904 doesn't have a ball and trunnion...
