The beast is dead! :-( Unfortunately, I got frustrated with head gaskets and customization and sold off the parts for the latest EFI/turbo iteration. I'm going back to a reliable old V8 setup :) 318 to 390 stroker w/ bolt on EFI, shooting for 400+ engine HP and turn key daily driving.

The biggest thing I would change is spending the money to have an MLS head gasket cut. I hear Cometic is accommodating this now but I haven't followed up. I'd also go with a big turbo, the /6 heads don't flow well so the more flow the turbo has the better (plus bigger turbos = lower boost for...

Hi Dave, I'm using a Wiseco piston and K1/Molnar rods. Compression was calculated at 8.3. I've run 20 psi for a few runs. Very similar to this setup but with a -22 CC dish. Slant six pistons Wiseco Slant 6 Pistons Forged 225 Slant Six Piston

Quick update on this ancient thread: it's been the better part of year and I finally bolted up the head gasket / fire ring solution to mixed results. The combustion chambers are sealed up and by my estimation bulletproof, I'd wager they could handle 40-50 PSI. However, the tolerances were a bit...

The car is built with modern sensors (crank position, knock, iat, etc.) and using an ems so detonation won't be a an issue because we have full visibility and control over fuel and timing. It's going to be mostly a street car so full alchohol isn't desirable due to the things we've mentioned...

Thanks, Bill. The flex fuel sensor and AEM EMS will handle adjustments for alcohol % on the fly. I'm a bit worried about the long term effects on the gas tank but I got a fuel pump and injectors rated for e85, and redid all the lines. It should be pretty reliable, until it's not, lol...

Hey All, I know this thread is getting anchient but I have a preview of the final product, well at least the engine/turbo setup :-D these things take time, lol The latest setup is wild, multi-point fuel injection, coil-on-cylinder ignition, e85 ready, full blow beast!

Another few months have passed and finally some significant progress. We finally got the head gasket solution figured out. This setup is just copying the Cummins guys and using steel fire rings with a Victor-Reinz head gasket. Hopefully it all crushes together right and we can easily hold tons...

Yes, lol. It's been a while. We had our first baby last August and between that and work the internet has been for mandatory use only - haha! You will be okay with a walbro 255 and a 1:1 fpr, mallory 4309 is great, anything like it will work 5/8 hard line with a return will be good for tons of hp, like 700 with this pump. That's about it for a really good setup.

The 32R I am using has an internal waste gate. I am going to bore out the diameter as big as I can, maybe even slightly larger than the flapper. Depending on how that does, I may bore a hole in the twin scroll housing so both sides are fully vented earlier in the circuit. We'll see how it does...

Great head porting will make the whole system more efficient, it will allow more flow, create more power. As far as I understand the only thing that will significantly increase the PSI at the compressor is more exhaust flow spinning the hot side. Thus, more lift, bigger exhaust, better ports...

Hi, Bill I'm using the MSD 6530 programmable 6al-2. It allows us to pull up to 25 degrees out. And I wish I had the chassis setup as good as the engine! It's doesn't hook for anything right now. I can put it into boost on the highway and it can spin the wheels and bounce around - not good...

Hi Bill, Yes, the engine has forged pistons. Total timing is at 38, under boost the msd box is pulling a a degree per pound up to a bar and 1.5 degree past a bar, based on the reading from the MAP sensor. Essentially, under 16.5 psi we should end up pulling about 18.5 degrees for timing of...

I've always know flow in lb/min and pressure as two different things which are related. PSI is measuring density and flow lb/min is how much air is moving through the system and how quickly. Flow lb/min is ultimately what determines your peak power. A small turbo has to react to an...

Hi moper, Remember, I didn't reach my peak horsepower because of detonation. Once we can spin it up to 5200-5500 rpms we'll probably see 10-25 more horsepower. Even so, looking at the /6 head compared to a modern head it could use a ton of work. It think the best bang for the buck in the...
