yet another fuel gauge thread - reads full all the time

1970 Dart with a standard (not rallye) dash So I installed a new fuel sending unit in my tank. I got it set the way I wanted it by bending the arm and it worked fine for a couple months, though it wasn't driven much, and now it reads full all the time (like on the F). The car has a new style...

Or run a big air cleaner and nobody would see them!

Hilborn Fuel injection - small block Mopar

A friend that deals in Mopar parts found this at a swap meet covered in 30 years of shelf dust in a banana box, with this fancy belt driven fuel pump. All the hard parts say Hilborn. Anybody ever seen a set up like this or know anything about its use???

    Fuel tank sending unit

I think that this over simplifys the situation. Yes the non-linear thing make the unit less useful. If you connect the unit while out of the tank (connect it to the wire at the tank and ground the unit) you can get someone to sit in the car and you can move the arm to see how it reads on the...

    Fuel tank sending unit

IMHO what is important is that you know before you run out of gas. You can hook up the sender before installation and bend the arm to make sure that critical information is available to you. Just how important is it to know when you have exactly half a tank??? I usually bend mine so that when...

    Fuel tank sending unit

All the A-body Plymouths from 70 to 76 look a lot like that - Dodge started using them in 1972

    Sizing carburetor

an AVSII opens the secondaries based on engine demand. It's one of the reasons they are so forgiving right out of the box. Will 800 cfm be too much? Here's 2 500 Eddie AFBs on my pretty mild 340. I think your 360 can take it - with an AFB or AVS better too much than too little.

Need help with edelbrock 1406 carb

I had this issues several years ago and was at Carlisle where Herb McCandless recommended a product called Carb Defender from a company called Driven. I have used it religiously ever since on 3 carbed LA motors and the Weber on my Rampage with no further issues with internal corrosion.

    Vapor Coming From Front Vent

When all new cars went to fuel injection and a sealed fuel system (mid to late 80s), our 'friends' in the petroleum industry took the stabilizers that used to be in all gas out of it, and there goes the gas in your fuel bowl, out the vent. Add to that, the fact that ethanol evaporates more...

    Edelbrock LD340 WTH?!?!?

The LD340 is a great manifold especially for the street car. I don't think that the difference between high or low runners was done for performance reasons. The first intake that I ever bought was an LD-4B (1975). It was the 273/318 version of the manifold (I think first produced in 1964) and...

    Aluminum intake install - 340

suggest that you use ultra grey instead of black RTV., especially for the china wall Follow the instructions - you let it cure for awhile and then torque it. It will retain some level of resistance to squish (that's a technical term) when you torque it down and not just give to the pressure...

    Thermoquad choke question

Hey man!!! see post #7! you need that sheet metal cup that fits down in the housing to seal off the exhaust gas passing under the carb. The bimetallic coil (with the housing over) then goes on top of that. By the way, if you use the gaskets that block the exhaust from running under the carb it...

    Carburetors for STR-12 Manifold

Best method of making dual scoops functional?

So I have heard this story from multiple sources over the years: Dodge wanted to have a real cold air hood for the 340 Dart in 1970. The idea was to use an air cleaner without snorkles that would be fitted with a plastic insert that would go out, have a 90 degree bend upward and a foam seal...

remember that you will probably never look at them again (out of sight, out of mind) so a high quality cap, or even a piece of gas hose with a bolt screwed in with proper clamps. You never want a gas leak there

Best way to vent fuel tank?

I'm curious - the factory tanks with 4 nipples had a "tank inside the tank" maybe a gallon or so in capacity. - part of the emissions system. Does your tank have that? I can't figure out how the 4 nipples work without that and those tanks had a rubber plug in the top of the tank to drain that...

Classic Industries chrome fuel tank cap warning.

I corresponded with both Classic and AMD who is the manufacturer of the oil fill cap. Classic refunded my money. I posted this info when it first happened and 2 other FABO members responded saying that they had the same thing happen. I forwarded the link to the thread to AMD.

Classic Industries chrome fuel tank cap warning.

Same for the AMD made oil filler cap that I got from Classic. Part with the ears falls off the cap and falls into the valve cover - YIKES!!!This happened to me driving down the road and fortunately the piece got hung up behind the springs. I got home and no filler cap, thought I had spaced it...

Difficulties with filling the tank all the way up

The actual filler nozzle of the pump was larger and fit better in the old car's fill tube. When unleaded gas came out (you used to have a choice - leaded or unleaded), new cars that took unleaded only (catalytic converter) had a smaller neck in the car filler tube that would keep you from...

    Carburetors for STR-12 Manifold

I don't remember what hood you will be using, but be careful. I could hardly get air cleaners to fit under the hood with my STR-12 with a stock hood (70 Dart) and NO spacers. I took a bunch of photos as I put my linkages back in place a couple weeks ago and then I went away for Thanksgiving...
