    I have a 67 170 with a 3 spd manual. engine MAY be toast. SO if looking for a replacement engine (225)....are there any specific years to watch out for, as far a manual transmission and crankshaft "mates"?

    Worn Timing Chain

    I just load it up with engine assy lube (lubriplate). It basically liquifies and becomes part of the oil. I use it for all the bearings too. The only exception is using heavier "cam lube" on flat tappet cams initially.

    This all makes sense. Thanks! In fact, in an older Chiltons, it shows that exact position for number 1, but I didn't have full conf. in just 1 illustration. I had 100+ "before" pict, but my HD crashed and I lost all the reference shots. oh well. thanks!!!!
