What has been used in the retaining hole to hold the throttle cable in place on the gas pedal. I tried the door plug, bit the plug was too big to fit into the hole. Just a small machine screw and nut? If I remember right it had a plastic plug in the hole from the factory.

Since my gas filler, with a vent tube, was badly corroded I replaced it with a new one, My question is since the new one does not have the vent tube connection, can I use it with vented cap instead or do I have to weld in a vent tube connection?
