slant 6 intake/exhaust gaskets

-
Thanks Dan. The round conical steel washer, is it the one I have pictured in the center of the top picture in post # 24. The front and rear thick round brass washers can be just a regular washer. I have brass nuts ordered. I will order the expanding - hex locknuts.

It's best to use the correct thick brass washers for the front and rear, instead of a stack of regular washers (a single regular washer will not get the job done at all).

It looks like the washer you're asking about is the top-centre stud's cone washer, yes. I can't get a good read on what that is to the right of it (too dark).

ok, I had found one from the same place that has the hex locknut. Mcmaster-carr. the item # is: 5/16" 11/32" 3/4" 0.17"-0.2" 1 98125A030 2.95 . It is brass and about the same thickness. .17-.2. So I will order that one with the lock nut and save on shipping. I think I am set on this. I went out and checked the exhaust and intake manifolds for warpage, I put a straight edge metal ruler across all the ports and they are as straight as an arrow. I saw no no place where I could get a feeler guage under it so I should be good to go with the Felpro gasket I have. I was going to get the Remflex if needed but I think this will work ok. Thanks for the help Dan.

You might get the not-very-good Fel-Pro gasket to seal the manifolds to the head. The odds are very much against your getting the useless Fel-Pro stamped-metal gasket to seal the intake to the exhaust manifold. The Remflexes are very(!) much(!) worth(!) buying and waiting for.

do they make a Remflex for the intake to exhaust. I only found the 6008 for the head. part # on the intake to exhaust would be nice. I will pick one up. thanks,Dan

ok, I was watching that on ebay and didn't see the second gasket in the pic. I was looking for the 6008 b. I will check that out.

just purchased the Remflex 6008 intake/exhaust gasket with the heat riser gasket. Going to take your guys advice and not take any chances with this. I don't like doing things twice. Happy New Year.

Do you have enough triangle washers? You only picture 9, but need 10. I have some spares if you come up short.

I just checked the engine. I have 13 studs. I conical for the center and 2 brass washers on the ends. That means I am 1 short. Who ever cobbled up this exhaust replacement the last time didn't do it right I guess. Yes, I could use another one if you have it. let me know what you want for it and let me know. thanks,Bill

WOW, that was fast shipping. I ordered 2 brass washers for the ends and a pack of the hex locknuts that Dan told me about yesterday after lunch. When I got back from breakfast this morning , they were on my front porch. McMaster-Carr did a great job on this order. By the way, the part #'s for the brass washers for the front and back studs are: 95395A320 and the part # for the hex locknuts is :94820A240.

Those parts all look pretty darned good, Bill. Helpful of you to post the PN's for everybody.... that is very good info.

Put some teflon tape or blue locktite on any studs, some (perhaps all?) of the threaded holes go into the water jacket.

part #'s for these items are :

brass washers- # 95395A320- McMaster-Carr.com
Cadmium -Plated steel Expanding Hex Locknut- # 94820A240
Remflex intake/exhaust gasket- #6008
studs-5/16 "- local parts house.

have to say I was impressed with McMaster-Carr service. I ordered them at lunch one day and they were on my porch the next morning. of course they were only 300 miles away but they had them out right away.

I received the Remflex 6008 gasket today. Got it on ebay a little cheaper than through Remflex. I got it through performancepartsracing. I can put the rest of the engine together tomorrow. Thanks guys for all the help with this. Bill

Do not use Teflon tape on the manifold studs. Also don't use silicone or any other random stuff that happens to pass through your imagination. Use Loctite thread sealant.
