nuetral safety switch?

My dart will start in nuetral but not park. is this an issue with the nuetral safety switch?

Most likely the linkage is out of adjustment, but it can be other things, bad switch, or bad/ bent "comb" inside the trans

Yep, When the steering column is lowered for some service while the shifter remains in park the linkage can get stretched out of adjustment. Just ne little bolt in the adjusting block to loosen and retighten will correct it but its under the car

To test the switch, disconnect the shift linkage at the lever on the transmission. Slide the lever all the way to the rear. That should be park. See if it starts now. If not, there is a problem with the switch or components inside the transmission. If it starts now, the shift linkage needs adjusting.
