tire question

i am running a stock 64 dart 170 and need tires

i am pretty sure the rims are original

i have 175/80/13 now and cannot find them anywhere for passenger cars

they are in good shape but are 10 years old so i would like to put some fresh rubber on.

i have found 175/70/13 but i am thinking they will be too small and be almost 1.4 inches less in diameter. Is it nuts to even consider this?

discount tire can order 185/70/13 but i am unsure if this is advisable and these will still be shorter.

i am not opposed to putting on 14 inch sbp rims but have not found any in my area. i have not checked tires for those but i understand those are getting harder to find as well.

any help or suggestions would be welcome

thanks in advance for your input

mike

Uh huh

You need to hunt down some 14's for that car.

ok

i found an american racing rim that is 14x7 in a 5x4

any issues with this brand?

what about the size? It appears i have some room in all directions for a larger wheel and tire.

thanks again for the input.

looks like i can drop a 195/60/14 tire in there. thoughts?

You can, ut it is very short. I have that size on the front of my 63 Valiant Convert. I have a 215/60/14 on the rear and have no problems with that size. As soon as I get the rear and disks on the the car, I will be getting rid of the 14" Cragers that are on it now. I will post them up here first. Hopefully by mid spring.

any issues with a 205 on the front with manual steering?
