Replace Distributor Drive Shaft ?

Collecting parts to assemble my magnum 360. The only part that I haven't purchased is a new distributor drive shaft. Do I need it? Used one looks to be fine, just a little reluctant to put a used one in. New Comp cam, distributor, pretty much everything new except block and rods. Original brass bushing stll in block. If I buy a mopar hardened shaft should it be the same size as the original and not require the bushing to be clearanced. All the machine work is complete. Thought I would ask your guys advice. Getting real close to assemble. Also how many of you use the relief spring kit for added oil pressure? Thanks in advance!

If the original bushing has been in the hot tank, it's toast. They are made of bronze. Caustic soda reacts with bronze. You should replace the bushing. If you're running a high volume oil pump, I would replace the intermediate shaft with a good hardened one. If running a stock pump, I would use the original. It will be fine.

Thanks StrokerScamp,

The block was not hot tanked so the bushing I think is fine. I was told that the process was not allowed in California anymore? So the block was put in a big "dishwasher" type machine. I will be running a stock pump but thought of using the pressure relief spring kit for added oil pressure. Don't know how effective these are?
