Heads up on this headlight switch. (SW185)
I thought my headlight switch might be flaky and decided to put another one in.
I have a pile of used originals, but rather than dig them out I sprung for a new one at Autozone. I like Advance better for the counter help here and selection, but that’s another thread. Autozone was closer on Christmas Eve, so I just went there.
(Sort of like my attempted foray into The Abyss last week.)
I put the switch in and it works but the knob is too close to be any good. Got to use the finger tips and can't get between the knob and the bezel. So I took it back out and put in an original. See how the stem is further in. Took me a couple of minutes to figure out what was going on.
I got carried away and trashed the box before realizing the problem, so I’m out the fourteen bucks. Oh well.
(Mopar on the right. Stems in for show and tell.)

I have ran into this from time to time, Just use the old stem/knob if they re the same size.

My bad. Didn't make it clear. I wondered if anyone might think that.
The stem doesn't come with the switch.
These are both "orginal" stems from Mother.
Same length.
I've got a bunch of them.
You have to swap your stem over.
Just wanted to heads up on this part number for future reference incase anyone reseaches headlight switch numbers.
Things change over time. But this is the way they made this switch.
Advance list more vendors. So they might have a one that is different.
Autozone only stocks this one that I know of.

im shocked to learn you can buy this switch new any place,,an at auto zone,, wow
