I plan on getting my stoker kit this coming week but not sure where i should order from, what are good and not so good suppliers to buy, from also hear not a good idea to run the eagle crank with an a833, wat would be my best bet to go with ?? plan on 500+ hp ,

no it is ok to run the scat with a 4sped...its not ok to run the eagle with the 4speed

Im just repeating what someone said in another one of his post asking about the stroker.. I have no problem with either cranks but someone said not to run the eagle crank with a 4sped

i here scat is better, not sure about the 4-speed thing. I'm going to go with the K1 crank with the chevy rods in my 340 for about 427". Hughes has a 4.18" crank for the 360 but i think it uses Honda rods, i hear its a decent kit 426".

Moper said this "I would be looking for a good cast or better a forged crank (I would not run the Eagle cast at 500hp with a stick), heads around 240-250; solid flat tappet cam in the 260@.050 range with at least .580 lift; M1 single plane; Holley Street Avenger 870VS."

Scat, MP(Scat), or K1 would be the lower cost cranks for this build. I would not run run the Eagle cast in it. And expect to have the parts checked out. I would not plan to assemble anything without having it all properly inspected.

And don't waste you money buying it balanced. Get a good local shop to balance it when you take all the parts in to be gone over and corrected where need be.

Our kit is 1600.00 and has Scat I beams, Scat 4" crank, KB forged pistons, moly rings, and race bearings. Internally balanced and ready to ship..

Brian, do you balance those kits? Reason I ask is because the Scat balance is known to be horrible. This is based on mine and others experiences with the Scat balance.

Yes I get the kit unbalanced and do the balancing here.

Try www.rpmmachine.com I bought my 408 kit there. When I searched they had the best prices anywhere.

Yea, a friend just bought his from there. Ordered a forged crank (SCAT) and wasn't told they were on backorder until HE called THEM a week later to confirm shipping. One would think he would have told him that when he placed his order, huh?

The good news is that they subbed a Eagle forged crank for the same dough and it all arrived in a few days after that. Price with KB forged slugs, moly file-fit rings and Clevite bearings was a few hundred cheaper than everywhere else we called.

Didn't trust a "mail order" place with the $185 balancing option though...having a local shop do it and double check my crank mic-ing.

FWIW, Indy Heads had a sale on the MP (SCAT) cast 4.00 crank for the 360 at the end of last year. $199.95. I got one at Christmas...maybe they still have some left????

Alot of guys run the Eagle Cast Crank......What is the reasoning not to run this crank with a 4spd??

Brian,
what would you say the max "safe" HP range would be with that kit..............

Hmmmmm, actually,
What would be the safe "RPM" limit with that kit?

When i do mine, I'm hoping to have a real or true 11-11.5 compression ratio(Need more compression when you live at 7000 feet above see level:fart:)

I cant speak for anyone else, but I have seen a few occurrences of the eagle cast crank breaking in the area of the number 1 main.

With a 4 speed, I would think the shock of launching would be harder on the crank than launching with an auto where at launch there is already more or less a pre-load on it with the auto, where with the manual there is none until dumping the clutch? Just a guess....

I bought the(408) 4340 Eagle stroker kit with H-beam rods and 10.2 pistons.My builder re-balanced the crank.

Safe Hp level is 600 N.A. Safe rpm depends on oiling mods...those components are good for many 6800-7000rpm shifts at 600HP.
Won't last forever, but if taken care of they'll go years before stress cracks show up in the cranks.

Well, NOTHING lasts forever...but 600 ponies with a CAST 4" crank?? Serious???

Detonation have something to do with it??

ohio crankshaft.

I'm running a ohio crank h beam/nodular crank/hyper quench dome kits in my 410, good stuff.

Mine cost $1300 'internally balanced' to my doorstep.

Has anyone actually had at least one of the Scat, MP, K1, Eagle and Ohio crank in their hands who can report an actual comparison of quality? Maybe provide a ranking by quality?
