Finding Wheels?
I just bought my 71 Valiant. Looking for some nice wheels to start out with.
I was on Jegs, Summit....etc.
Where are you guys finding the 14 inch rims that are....5 on 4 inch bolt pattern rims?

Anybody?
I stopped at pepboys today, the girl working the counter said american racing went out of business??? She could not order me any wheels for my car.
She said the custom wheel industry and vintage cars are fading away. I think she smoked one too many. ugh!!!

Just a thought, if you like steelie rims with dog dish caps, you can usually find a set for about $100. Also a nice used set of rallye wheels should be cheaper than new American Racing or Cragar wheels.

Check out Centerline Wheels, you can buy directly from the factory online. Their website lets you check what they have available for your bolt pattern.

As you probably already know, you'll have a much larger selection if you convert to big bolt pattern 5 on 4.5".

You only have a few 5x4" options if you stick to 14". If you consider rims larger than 14's, your selection improves a little:

Just my $.02 from experience, live with the car for a while and take some time figuring out what rims you want. It's easy to get over-excited when you first get your car and make hasty purchases. A lot of rims that look good on 2-doors look cheesy on 4-doors.

I got 2 14 x 6 alum. crager, small bolt circle, that have been glass beaded, and look very good for the price. $75 apiece plus the ride. wind up w/ about $90 apiece in them. no center caps, have chrome lugnuts for them, but their not real real slick.
if interested p.m. me

I have a set small bolt ralleys with 70-71 caps. Blasted and painted 250.00. I have rings but they are not perfect. 280.00 with rings. I'm in Uniontown Ohio and will be at the Canfield swap meet Fri. and Sat.

That's my experience as well. My car started with full wheel hub caps and I was going crazy trying to find some cool looking wheels. I gave up after I wasn't crazy about the selection for sbp wheels out there. Ended up painting them black and dog dishing them and I love them now. The black wheels and stainless dishes look great in contrast to my white paint. If my car were another color I'd possibly go with rallyes.

Have been looking and so far havn't found any information on which vehicles are prime for the swap to the bigger bolt pattern.

the `73 and up v-8 a-bodies had front discs, 8.25 rear end, and large bolt pattern wheels and there are still quite a few of them around. if you can find a parts car for a reasonable price, thats the way to go. its all a bolt-in swap.

I have picked up two sets and a few single rallye wheels off Craigslist too. They just pop up every now and then so I grab them as they show up.
