I agree HAPPY WIFE HAPPY HOME MEANS MORE TOYS LESS HASSELS unfortunally shoes don't work with my wife she likes to stick shinney coins in funny machines that make lots of noise. I hate those places but hey if shes HAPPY.
How much longer till your driving that beast of yours.

like I told my wife when she would ask me... "when are you gonna be done building my house?''....from the very start the answer was always the same....."In about 2 or 3 weeks"
truthfully..I would hope ..sometime in May...June at the latest...this job thing (3 days a week) is kinda takin' my creative time

I just hope I get my engine back by then at least they have started on it. Do you have the motor and running gear all in so you can at least sit in it and make motor noises.
I got an idea just crank the car up and run uncapped for awhile when the wife is trying to sleep maybe she will say quit working and get that dam thing done.
Oh yea HAPPY WIFE HAPPY WIFE HAPPY WIFE what was I thinking.

HemiDenny--That's a killer ride your putting together. I'm putting the finishing touches on my tube chassis 71 Dart street car and am looking forward to getting out this summer for some fun. I'm in Texas so probably won't see your ride down South and with gas the way it is I probably won't get north this year. Here are a couple of pics.

hey Needsaresto......Duster has pre-bent/formed universal rails from Jegs...driveshaft keeper from Morrison...rest of tubing from local race shop or steel co.(post 28...page 2 of this thread) I started to mini-tub...I did that to a Duster in '76...and realized not only the rear framerails are not perfectly parallel and were about 1" shy of the width I wanted. Also the stamped factory frame rails are really pretty thin.....so once the knife came out I decided to "take it to the next step".....stretched wheelwells, frame rails thru the floor tied to the trans crossmember,4-bar/4-link,"race car" quality rear framerails, coilovers, rear sway bar, panard bar/ect.......all tucked away incognito to the non-Mopar people

Back on the keyboard this morning. I'll get some more pics up today and take some this week of the latest progress. It's a 71 Dart with a complete chrome moly tube chassis front to back certified to 25.4 sfi specs. 528 aluminum headed Hemi built by the Cylinder Head shop here in Austin (they build many top fuel and alcohol Hemis for alot of IHBA boat racers). Crane roller cam, pro shot fogger, Indy single dominator intake, ultimate 727 built by Pro Trans (build alot of trannies for SS/AH cars), Inland Empire 4" aluminum driveshaft, Mark Williams modular CNC rear with 4.11 pro gear, rifle drilled axles. The car will be tagged as an antique so no inspection or smog test needed here in Texas.

Wow.....Hemidart528...you should start a thread...I bet EVERYONE on this site would like to view and get the details on this build....not just the ones that might stumble on it here......the title alone will perk the interest
what type of K-frame/motor mount/suspension do you have up front??
Very nice.....for a STREET car!...I didn't notice..you're in Texas (HOT)..does it have A/C?
Mopar to ya'

Good idea on the new thread Denny, I'll start one this week with the updated pics. There is absolutely no factory suspension left on the car. We completely cut it all out including the floor and used a motor plate and mid-plate for the motor/tranny. Strange struts up front allow me to get the car really low (I like the fender drooping some down over the front tire) and AFCO Big Gun shocks bring up the rear with a big diameter 4-link that I and my chassis welder fabricated. I am making sure all tail/brake/parking lights work and have completely rewired the car myself based on an MSD7AL3 ignition. The term "street" is used loosley for this beast since it has a soft pro gear in the rear and an aluminum drum in the tranny (both tend to wear quicker than OEM materials) but I will be able to drive it for short runs down to an old drive-in burger joint nearby where other hot rods hang out. No A/C on this build and you are right--a black car in Texas is going to be a fiery jalapeno!
