I'm going to put one in in my 68 Barracuda with a 440.
I think I may have to do something different the way it comes out the firewall close to the back of the passenger side head. The valve cover will be awful tight there.
Is there anything you wish would have upgraded or done differently ? Looks like an awesome job !
Thanks
Donnie

It's around $1300, but my kit was acquired in a trade several years ago . That's another plug I have for "Classic Air". They knew I didn't buy the kit, but were still interested in helping with the install..... Great customer service IMO

Thx very much John. U can have my 4 legged helper...He doesn't eat much LOL

The pulley was supplied in the kit and I didn't take a pic of it...sorry. U can find a pic on their website though. It attached to the front of my existing crank pulley with 3 bolts. My crank pulley is non-stock and is billet aluminum, so that's why some add'l shimming was required I guess.

Looks like a good install C

Thx mully....I'm hoping someone flips me off too . I know what U mean about the heat. Hopefully, this AC will extend my cruisin' season a couple of months.

Really glad to hear U love it. It's not functional yet, so I can't comment
Gonna replace the carpet while the interior is out and thx for the tip!!

Only thing I can think of would be paying someone else to do it....LOL...kiddin'
The install is not quite as easy as the website makes it sound, but that's not a surprise
Thanks for your input and you may want to call Classic and ask them about this for a big block A-Body. I'm sure it could be done with some creative fabrication.

I was wondering if cars without tinted glass would need tinting for the system to work correctly? I have been told that the glass would need tinting or the AC would not work at all!! I didn't really believe that but I don't know for sure.

Mulli, mine is in a rag top without tinted windows. Like I told 6pk, insulate the floor, a hard top might be better than mine as all I have is the cloth top. My unit blows 36 degrees running down the road.

Yeah I see what you're saying. I can't remember how it got brought up but these two guys I was having a conversation with mentioned the glass had to be tinted in order for the AC to work properly. I didn't say anything but it left me like "What?". However my fields cuda that I mentioned about earlier his car is tinted. Not a real dark tint just enough where you can see it.

Well thanks to U, this is yesterday's progress. I think it was a great idea while the interior was out anyways........I bought 1 roll of foil backed insulation from Home Depot for under $25. It did the whole floor

Great post! I was wondering about these kits & how they were. Now we all have a better idea of what they're like to do. I'm guessing in AZ a/c is almost a must for healthy & happy cruising. Stay cool!

It wont, their system is set up to use all of the non air holes in the radiator suport, and non air fire wall. I think they can set you up with parts to make your factory unit work though.

I'm hoping it will make a difference Steve. Every single degree helps here in the AZ desert

I think U would need some extensive work on the firewall if your car came from the factory with AC, but you may want to call them like jaws suggests for parts to update your original setup. I really don't know..........

x2 what jaws said. I have been dealing with them about my '72 with original factory A/C. They want me to use their Flex Fit System.

Here are the differences between an OEM A/C and a non-A/C a-body:
1. The firewall has a bigger cut-out for the fan motor on A/C cars...not a problem, just make an adapter ring out of sheet metal or sheet aluminum.
2. Dash controls are different......use and electronic controller or find a non-A/C controler.
So, if you are mechanically inclined enough to install an entire HVAC system you can take care of the small stuff yourself. As you can see, even the "custom fit" unit needed some work.

Well, now the other person can't keep saying "what?" and blame not getting it because of road noise!

It certainly helps but it was 90 degrees here in GA today with 80% + humidity an my windows in my 65 Barracuda are not tinted and it was pretty cool in my car even after driving for 45-60 minutes.

Thank you for the post, I knew that the hole for the heater blower motor was larger (I am currently making an adapter) and I have the control head and bezel for a non A/C car. You have answered my question about the difference between the 2. Thanks again.
