I am taking them apart, the divider portion needs rechromed, I think the other side is removable & stainless (very polishable...is that a word?) but how does that nice rubber insert come out without damaging it? The felt wisker strip too ? what is the secret here ? any one been down this road ???

Cat whiskers are availble from different sources. I do not beleive that you can take the whiskers off without practice without damage. A putty blade does help both off and on. As far as vent window seals, they can be taken off and cleaned. The replacements that are out there are better then nothing, but all have some issues. If the old seals are damaged then get new, otherwise.....

OK I did get the assembly apart . the vent rubber seal is still nice the way to get it off is down at the bottom where the hinge post comes thru. stick a screwdriver in there and pry it out gently at that point then the rest pulls out by following it around. The triangle assembly comes apart into two pcs...one that gets chrome and the other has the stainless sleeves on them...still trying to figure out how to get those to snap off without damaging them. Maby they can be polished on the assembly. The lever handle seems to be giving me some fits, the little access hole might be a cue but it doesn't seem to want to give up.

yea amx that is what I am looking at. How do you get that handel off that window bracket, still am having no luck ?

there is a small hole in the handle and in it is a roll pin that you have to get out with a punch. be gentle with the handle and support it well(it's easy to break) but the pin will come out and then the handle can be wiggled off. it might take some wiggling but it will come off.
