Been waiting all summer for the local farm stand to open up so I can get some more fresh corn, honey and other produce. They finally opened today!!!
Bad news: The crops are not as hearty as last year due to the excess rain that we've had this year....
The corn is a little small right now, but it will peak in 3-4 weeks and should be nice.
I also stocked up on honey as I ran out a couple of months ago. They get their honey from a local bee keeper, which is good for people who have allergies. By buying honey that is local to your area, it is made from the pollens that are found locally and help your system build up an immunity to the pollens, for those with allergies and hay fever so your reactions are not as severe to the pollens that you are exposed to...

Here's most of my "take" from this morning; corn, honey, tomatoes, peaches, honey, and green beans:

Here's a dozen corn, shucked and ready to go as soon as the kid gets home from work this afternoon. This was just picked this morning and will be about 6 hours off the stalk when we bite down in it...

I love to get fresh produce, as fresh as you can get it, it's better for you when it's fresh.
Plus I like to support my local farmers and vendors to keep the economy going here.
The lady who runs the stand knows me on sight and I get to talk to her and get the latest info on the food for the season. Unfortunately the crops are not as big as they have been in the past due to the rain that we've had here, some of the crops were affected, but they will still be fresh. They pick the food either the night before or usually the morning of the day that they sell it.
Not everything is ready to be picked yet, but it's nice to get what we can as it's available...
