Someone hatched this crazy plan to buy MeMike this car -> http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=36756&page=2

In case you don't know, MeMike bought a nice little '63 Valiant but the car got stolen before he could take possession.

We've got $195 pledged so far and free delivery of the vehicle! But we're a long way away from the goal, but it's doable.

We need two things:
First: a backup plan in case we can't raise enough money...what do we do with the money raised? Give it to someone else? A charity? Buy a car for someone else instead? I don't know. We'd have to have a clear statement about where the money goes if enough isn't raised.

Second: We need a trusted member of FABO to set up a PayPal account to take the donations, someone trusted and known. I don't really want to do it.

Anyone into this?
 
We'd also need the seller of the car, RMCHRGR to commit to holding the car for a specified period of time. Once that time is up, if we don't have enough money to buy the car he can put it up for sale again. If someone else buys it before we can raise the right amount, then we do something else with the money.
 
for a backup plan , how about just waiting for the next acceptable car or let memimke pick one out.....
How about Adam or Joey for the account ?.. if they are willing

and out of work or not ,count me in for sme $$$ also
 
Recommend against PayPal, commission. Have PayPal as an option but recommend Check.

MeMike is a good guy but I’ve been unemployed so…

...so that's why something like PayPal is a good option because people can donate anonymously with or without others knowing. There's no pressure there.
 
I agree with 68GTS340, we save the money until another car comes along or let MeMike chose. What if his '63 is recovered? Then we give a car to someone else!
 
if it doesn't go thru, i still have my 63 valiant wagon...............

not a turn key car though.
 

I guess the '65 Valiant isn't exactly a turn key either, it needs some body work and stuff. Pretty good though. Maybe we should actually check with MeMike and make sure he likes this car?

I'd love it someone bought me car, but if they showed up with a Lada or Renault or something I might just have cause for concern.

Are you there MeMike? What do you think of this car?
 
All I can say is wow!

Talk about generous. I have been in unfortunate circumstances many times in my life. Currently doing well enough and able to feed my own. But I didnt get there on my own. Nobody does.

I wish I had been helped out like this myself! My Dart has sat virtually untouched since 92 or so due to those hard times.

If this gets off the ground count me in for $50.

Mopars and parts are getting priced out of reach of the average guy. I cant do anything about greed but I can help Mike!
 
If this falls through, I would like to think my money went to the California School for the Blind raffle car build for next year. memike likes the car (he's willing to fly to New York and drive it home), but I think he doesn't want to dream that big right now. Coyote Jack is handling a good bit of money for someone else right now(Marvin), wonder if he'd be willing to at least chime in with good advice. Put me down for $50. I'm not a Rockefeller but I can get off that much to help out. Great thing you're doing here 65s.

Just noticed this was post 440. Reckon the Mopar gods are talking?
 
Bigstrok3: I like your thinking. That St Louis rig is a lot closer to mike and seein he's sellin parts to take a trip with wife he might not be able to fly to N.Y. due to funds. On the St Louis rig , I would take a trailer and haul it home for him if we make it happen. Plus half the cost. I think MeMike can work with a not so perfect car. I'm in for $100 and hauling.
 
Def looks like it would be a good car. Not to shabby of a price either. From what I can see in the pictures it looks decent.
 
A very worthy cause indeed! Memike deserves a break after what he went through with the other Dart. About the only advice I can give the person that organize's something like this is to document everything well. It is probably a good idea to have a little help to. But only one person can handle the money. Any more than that and it can get confusing. Trying to do something like this takes a lot of time on someone's part, (ask me how I know. LOL)
I think it would be a good idea to get Mike's input on this before it ever starts though.

That's all I can think of for now.

Good morning all, I am at a loss for words this morning.
I enjoy and like helping people out when I can, It keeps me feeling good
about myself,:love7: I want to thank everyone here where I live and learn and enjoy life each day on this great site of FABO.
I am not sure if everyone here know how I live my life everyday at home and
around my family and friends, I will only be 50 years old in July and I am not
in what some people say in good shape. It is hard for me to explain this.
I went two 13 schools by the time I was in the 6th grade and lived in labor camps till I was 16 years old ,living with my mother and grand mother and two younger brothers. I leaved to meet my father at 16 and got to meet him and my older brother Ken.
I have raised two of the best boys on earth and have a #1 grade A wife for 28 years and a beutiful grand daughter, I could not read good or spell till I came to this site and it has filled a great void in my life, So as you can see I have been blest considering my up bringing, I own my on home I had built and paid cash for and do not have a house payment.

I worked as long as someone would hire me and I have kept a perfect tax record But my bones where hurt bad as a child working and getting poison pay a spray they put on strawberries and got ran over by a tractor that did not get any attention so I will just come right out and say it.
I am disability and draw a check from our country.
My back pay I got I was smart enough to build and buy a peace of land my bro ken sold me.
I have more then most and I would be very uncomfortable taking this car.
I have been taking care of myself my hole life and it is hard for me to receive
I hope yall understand, my emotions are getting the best of me right know,
not sure if I should post this info or not.
But I feel like some of yall should know.

Just to answer you question 65s,It has all I am looking for and my son can do a great paint job on it. I do appreciate your good intentions 65s and all the great members here.

Sid! can you help the folks here understand why I feel the way I do.
Sid and I have had some good shrink sections a year or two ago.:read2::profilel:
