Finally started the restoration of my 72 Swinger after almost 3 years. I purchased the car with very little history. Car is an original /6. Had a grenaded 340 in it when i got it. Put a high mileage 360 out of a derby car in to drive. Fixed a few other things just to drive close to home.

My buddy who owns a body shop finally had room for it so I dropped it off a few weeks ago. I have been tearing it apart to save as much as I can. The front panels are in real good shape. I ordered new AMD quarters, floor pans, trunk floor and extensions. Been real happy with the quality.

Here are some pics of the progress. I have most of the interior removed, glass and a good start on floor pans.

More pics. There was a sticker from Knoxville TN on pumper. Then I found this under the dash. I like that they are not only sales but also service for Hair pieces.

I guess you meant "Bumper"?

Lot happened this week. Faster than I could take pictures. Hoping to get it ready for blasting next week. Got mounted on rotisserie. Getting panels fitted. Waiting for the right side quarter. Hope it comes soon.

Was able to put a few hours in today. Wish I could take 2 weeks off to work on this, but just too busy at work. Been real lucky though. The friends shop it is at has been able to put a lot of attention to it. Hope my parts that are backordered come soon. Hope to get floors fitted and sand blasting this week. Worked on cleaning up engine bay today. Also started pulling suspension apart. Have never worked off a rotisserie before but it is awesome. Having the right equipment (good air comp., 2 post lift, good light, room) is great. Also having guys in the shop with tons of knowledge helps more than anything.

There has been more progress than I have pictures of. Will get more pics soon.

The control arm bracket was pretty bad. Was going to get one off a parts car, but time and the weather was holding up progress. So I broke down and ordered a new one from Classic Industries. If I have to take time off work to get parts it does not add up financially in some cases.

I'm surprised it's got 1/4s cut off, and mounted on a rotisserie with absolutely no bracing of any kind....

I was a little concerned at first but as we cut it apart it did not give at all. We have the panels mocked up and everything looks good. Hope it does not turn into a problem down he road.

More pics. Could not get the uca mount from classic industries to fit. Ended up cutting old mount in half and frankensteining the two. Looks really good now. Hoping to get more done this week.

Have not posted or done much for awhile. Was a busy summer for me and the shop owner. He has started fitting panels and body work. Hoping to spend more time on this winter.

Filled in marker lights on front.

cut out rusty section and added new. I have since found a parts car and may use that trunk lid.

My parts car deal fell through so will continue fixing what I have. Did some pricing on getting bumper re-chromed. $450 for each at a place in Brainerd MN. Anyone have any input on this place? How about AMD bumpers? They have '70 bumpers. My car is not period correct anyway, '71 rear quarters, '72 fenders with marker lights holes filled in.

Lots of sanding and body work this week. Looks really good. My buddy is planning on working all of next week on it and should get a lot done. He got both front fenders in primer and the passenger side door. I am going to look at a trunk lid tomorrow and hopefully it is better than the one I have. That would save alot of time in body work. I dropped both bumpers off for rechroming. Planning to kick the whole project in high gear. Will post some pictures soon.

Few pics from today. I did pick up a pretty good trunk lid for $125. Worked on cleaning the filler out of drip rail. Sand blasted bumper brackets and primered. Also split trans from old engine. Gonna steam trans off and move accessories from old motor to new.

Doors and fenders looking better.

Also picked up a passenger side manifold to go with 340 driver's side. Not sure I will use them or the Doug's I have but now have a complete set and options.

New qa1 lca's. Old ones were cracked and bought on sale. Not sure if much of an improvement.
