'74 Scamp Carb problems

My car (74 Scamp 225 /6) dies when I give it to much gas. My friend said I should check the filter where the fuel line connects to the carb. I replaced the metal cylinder filter on the line itself but is there any additional filter inside the carb?

Also, I bought some of the fuel system cleaner stuff and ran that through a bit.

is your accelerator pump working properly? if you romp on the gas pedal, does it cut out and die?
