A 1974 Duster - My 2nd one, 41 years later!

-
Thanks Mike!

Sireland, I think it was a Goodmark. If I were to do it again, I would get an AMD panel.

That is what I bought, for the money they are ok.
My next project is getting AMD, I am not even going to try to go cheap on it, not worth the extra time.

If your going to swap to the earlier rear bumper you should weld in the filler piece that is missing behind the bumpers on the 74 up's You wont be able to nicely fix that later.

Love everything else! Nearly exactly what I want to do to my 74

I will look into that Jamakin, thanks for the tip. I will be ordering 73' fiberglass bumpers front and back. Maybe I better order them now...if welding is needed, better do that before I go any further with paint.

Just got the Helwig bar bolted in. Had to modify...their instructions were not exactly as what needed to be done to getting it installed on my car.

That is odd, what I remember when installing the bars on my car, the fronts were easy, the rears were a little harder.

Ordering AAR rear fiberglass bumper so I can deal with fitment as Jamakin pointed out, now is the time. I refuse to put those god awful heavy boat anchor bumpers back on. I will have to fab up some mounts, no biggie. The OEM shock absorber rear bumper mounts were completely removed.

AAR bumpers to be painted in Sassy Green......or Black...what do you think is better???

I didn't do too much today. Started the line lock-roll control install. Figuring out where button goes with a pistol grip shifter is a challenge. I may be going with a different shifter with incorporated line lock button. Started taping off the window areas for spraying the 2k primer. Fiberglass bumpers on the way.

I started spraying the Kirker Perfect Prime 2K primer yesterday. Never shot any 2K before so I had to figure out how to spray it. I'll get it. It seems like spraying it at 29-30 psi at the gun it goes on wet and lays down very nicely. Here is the 2nd coat about an hour after I sprayed it. The 1st coat was guide coated and blocked with 320. I used 4:1:1 mixture, paint/activator/reducer. My primer gun is a Iwata AZ3 with a 1.8 tip.

Did the hood scoop come with a template or do you just have to lay it out the best you can ? Thinking about gitting one.

Jaws tip: Tape right on the center body line, spray above it, 2K prime and block to tape, then reverse it and do the same thing from the bottom up. Defines the center body line. So I gave it a go! Top side in 2K. Two good coats.

Are you talking about something like this?

2K & blocking tells you everything. Found that I had more straightening to do. Still at it....actually played hookie from work today and worked on the car a full 8 hrs today. Getting her straight!
