You will need to use the lockup converter that hopefully came with it. Your other one won't work, and the valve body that is in it will need to be retained to lock up the converter. Looking at how someone had the kickdown lever tied back, I hope you don't go thru all the work to get it in and then find out it's toast!Jumping/reviving this thread. I picked up what was listed as a 904 transmission. He said it was behind a Magnum or Cordoba. I knew it was a lock-up 998 or 999. Pretty sure it's a 1978 but the 10000 day code comes back as 1963.
Would like to know date and which is it? 998 or 999? What does L-STALL mean shown below? Pretty much know the answer but can I use my 72 904 valve body in this trans?
Thanks
Numbers are PK 4505162 0251 3905

Is that date from the 0251 number?Date code is August 21 1989.
Used in trucks and vans from 1990 until 3 - 15 - 91.
A999 transmission with low stall converter.
I have 4 999's from 74-78 Cordoba's and Magnums, and they all have the PK numbers on them. Sometimes they didn't get the stamping very deep, like can't see it at all. There were no PK 45----- numbers used on Magnum's or Cordoba's. Date code is from 0251.
PK 45----- numbers didn't exist until the very late 1980's.
