I bought this 4 speed tonight for my duster build. The guy said it came out of a 68 340 Cuda they junked out. Can anyone tell me what the ratios are for it, and if it was original to the cuda?

477 tail shaft is big yoke abody, 8b stamped in case 1968 hamtramck built. I would say 1968 340 or 383 barracuda or dart.

can I mention that usually Mopar didn't put the vin# there in 1968. They were on the driver side, left of the kickdown linkage. maybe not on all models. Also, those numbers and letters aren't stamped like an original, way to crooked. Just an observation. Any other opinions?

On a 4 speed?

It was in 68, in all likely hood, the std ratio. Namely; 2.66-1.92-1.39-1.00 Stick it in 1st and count the number of turns of the input to make 1 turn of the output.
and FWIW, the dozen or so stampings on A-833s Ive seen look pretty much like that. And yes the A/T stampings are much, much, cleaner.

I thought 69 was the first year of vin stamped on the pad... I've had some 68 transmissions that didn't even have the pad at all and others with a ruff casted pad...never one with vin on it tho... lotta automatic 68s with vin right on top of the bell and on engine at the same place where they are mated.
