Anyone know of a thread of hand grinding a forged 440 crank to fit in a 400 block for a 451 build? Crank guy I have can do the mains, but not the counter weights. Thanks.

not sure where you are located but theres a shop in Seymour that can do it for you.

Muncie. Got their name? Road trip... I'd just have them do the mains too.

Jimmy's Machine shop in Seymour. Him or even Zimmerman's in Greensburg.

Put it in a lathe and cut the counterweights as needed. How far you go depends on the bobweight that you are shooting for. The edges need a heavy chamfer to clear the block. I think I covered this about 20 years ago in the 451 Manifesto!

Don't have a lathe. Saw an article awhile back from a guy that did them by hand. Can't find it now though.
