I am rewiring a 67 Valliant for a client and in looking for a place to pass the harness through, I found an oval shaped hole about 15" x 2" to the right of the column.
Does anyone recall what that was for originally? The car owner does not know.

Its for a clutch rod on a standard shift car. It gets plugged. I ran a choke cable through it on the brown car. The harness goes through the square hole . Its called the bulkhead.

That’s pretty slick! Did you run the battery to starter cable through the conduit path next to the sill plate that the rear wiring harness runs through and up inside the kick panel?

Yes I did. I also use a Ford relay so it's only live when cranking. And yes I did tie back the wire in pic away from header pipe after pic.
