6.1 Hemi 69 Barracuda Fastback Father Son Project

Sweet! Thanks for sharing.
F&B Throttle bodies?
Yep. I bought the intake on E-Bay and sent it to Bruce at F&B. They did the conversion there and put their "six pack" throttle body set-up on it. Bruce was excited to get his hands on the intake. Prior to mine he had only seen pictures of this style intake.

Cleaned and painted horns, kick panels and dash vents.
Semi-Gloss for the horns. SEM Trim Black for the kick panels and dash vents.

I try to do a little every day. It all has to be done so every little bit no matter how small helps.

First round at the blasters. Plastic Media Blasting. Check check.
They have the Body + Doors, Fenders, Hood, Deck Lid, and all the interior sheet metal.
Next round - Sand.
Should all be done this week. Hoping for Dry weather so I can get it over to my painter as soon as it is ready.
Will get new full quarters, a one piece trunk floor, R/L trunk extensions, front and rear valance, a small patch in the front passenger floor, and a right outer rocker panel. Will also get USCarTool Complete Full Radiator Support, fits 26" radiator easy and is twice as thick metal as stock for stiffnes and strength, plus opening is adjustable.
Also locates the radiator forward a little from stock for a little more clearance between engine and radiator.
Car will also have USCT full level 2 chassis stiffening kit installed.

I have a left over Brand New USCT A-Body Radiator support.
Also will have Full A-Body Stock Radiator support that is being removed.
I'll be posting these for sale when I get around to it...

The pictures below are all from US Car Tool Web site:
Full adjustable Radiator support

26 in. Rad Core Support 03.JPG

Level 2 Chassis stiffening kit.
Yes I did have to test fit, grind, cut, fit, grind, cut... but it really was not that much.
They are ready to weld in now.
US Car Tool Level 2 Chassis Kit.JPG

I will not be using the bottom rad support.
Decided to get the USCT adjustable full radiator support instead of cutting/modding the stock support to fit larger rad and dual electric fans.

Here are a few pictures of mine before we painted the undercoat. The radiator support on mine is 2x2 square tubing. I did not do fender braces, I was told they were not critical if I was keeping the torsion bars. Just what I was told... I was also afraid they might put a limit on tire size for the front and no one could answer the question.

Looks Good Michael!
What undercoat did you use?

Nice, I think my painter said he likes to use Raptor and that it was tintable also. I'll have to check with him.
Have not decided on Black or Body color undercoat yet. I like both...

My car waited inside at the blasters for almost a week after it was done so I could transport on a dry day.
There will be some metal work before the EP goes on to keep from having to remove it.
My painter and I will get together next week to discuss how much it looks like. There was a fair bit of Swiss Cheese uncovered by blasting... I'm guessing well over 100 hours to get to all the sheet metal repairs, Sub-frame connectors, Torque Boxes, full R/L quarters, Full trunk floor, Trunk extensions, full new US Car Tools Radiator Support, patches for both front fenders. Epoxy primed, Undercoated with Raptor, Painted inside and out. = ???? $$$
I'll bring it home with paint inside and all the jams and bottoms of deck lid and hood. Still in primer outside and engine compartment.
Lots of test fitting including the G3 hemi [Still need to buy] and working on a car with all new paint is not something I want to do.
I want to test fit pretty much everything.
I'll keep the fenders off, the doors off and the hood off while working on the interior and drive train.
I'm assuming the G3 Hemi will need to go in and out at least a couple times to get it right. Exhaust, electrical, plumbing, cooling...
After everything has been test fit and I'm happy with it, I'll bring it back for him to shoot the engine compartment and full outside.
Then bring it back home for final assembly.

I just think I would be stressed out trying to work on a fully painted and assembled shell.
Then would probably still end up needing to repair some oops'.

Never went this deep into the convertible, then again it didn't need it either. No Rust, still wearing it's original sheet metal and undercoat.

Welcome your thoughts on my logic.

Welcome your thoughts on my logic.

We did mine in this order:

Repaired body, repaired door jambs (strikers ripped out), added sub frame connectors, torque boxes and other metal repair work.

Test fit the engine and transmission together in the car. Made the new transmission tunnel and cross-member. Cleaned up the firewall.

Modified the front and rear window openings to match the stainless trim. Gapped fenders, doors, hood, and etcetera.

Modified the trunk for the new fuel tank. Did the rear wheel tubs. Added passenger side exhaust hanger mount.

Test fit the intake and air cleaner, modified the hood to clear.

Test fit the front suspension, brake package, wheels and tires. Modified the front fenders and rolled the lip on the rear wheel wells. Made the cut outs for the exhaust tips. Mounted the brackets for the stock console.

So all of the above was finished before any color was put on the car inside / out or underneath.

Some progress at the body shop.

Moving along. New F/R valances, Door corners, some deck lid rust repairs still to go.
Will POR the entire floor inside. Decided on Black interior sheet metal vs body color.

Interior sheet metal... besides the dash, Black Base coat/clear coat, gloss, semigloss or satin through out?
How did you do yours? Any pictures?

Car will be 2015 Viper Gunmetal Pearl Gray with matte or satin black wheels

Anyone ever eliminate the vent opening in the cowl? Classic Auto Air AC System does not use outside air and blocks it off inside.
I'm thinking eliminating the grated opening for the vents in the cowl. Smoothed out would look really nice and also eliminate a source for collecting crap or leaks. Will fill the firewall holes too.

The windshield washer jets would need to be moved but I think I can find late model little black ones like these and mount them on the cowl.

Will have to relocate the wiper switch and trim some of the metal for the bottom right gauge hole.

I like your style.....I often get asked about test fitting suspensions....my thinking is ....test fit until you can install it blindfolded. Great practice for when everything is freshly painted and /or powdercoated.

A friend of mine eliminated the cowl vent on his Duster, and it looks good. He also eliminated the wipers and filled those holes too. He took the wipers off because the car will never be driven in the rain. It's got a 470 CI low deck stroker, with Stage III Hemi heads. Traction is hard enough to find when it's dry! lol

I filled thw the cowl vent on my cuda. Looks much better. Filled the squirters too. Flushed out the firewall and kept the wipers. Just in case i get caught in rain. Also, i think it might be illegal to run without them in some states.
