I am building a 408, and will be in,stalling hooker 5116 headers. My question is how is the best way to install them? The car was converted to manual steering for clearance. Do I place them in the bay them installing the complete motor around that? Or install the long block, then the headers then the heads? Or install the complete motor and then the headers? Or any other methods would be greatly appreciated. I want to make this as easy as possible

Put headers in the enginebay and then drop the complete engine in. fairly easy!

I totally agree.
It would be a PIA to get them past the torsion bars if already on the motor, and the headers instructions for putting them on after the engine is in says you have to put them in from underneath while leaning the engine over to each side as they go in.

I'll be tight dropping the engine in with them already in place, but a lot less of a PIA.

Try to do yourself a favor and use Remflex header gaskets if you can.

Ok thanks for the info. Thats kind of the line I was thinking about but wanted to get others first hand Experience
