came of a 72 340, there are 2 part numbers on it on outside edge is 83184-003-7 , on back side is 3614389, excellent condition, asking $40 plus ride located in central Wisconsin.

This balancer is correct for, 68-72 forged steel crank motors which were internally balanced of course. Will also work on 273 and 318
 
This is a balancer from a 69 340. The keyway slot and timing mark are not aligned.

Yea I thought the timing was different once the aluminum water pumps where added. The timing cover marks swapped sides and I thought the timing marks moved on balances from 1970 to 71 and the again they changed and went to the external balanced ones.
 
That is true. The timing chain cover on my 69 is on the left side when facing the engine.
 
and 1971 and older had 1 pulley bolt offset, 1972 and newer had pulley bolts symmetrical. so that damper is for a 1972 340 forged crank, or a 1970 and 1971 340 with a later pulley. and 1972+ 318s
